  1. We'll be aggressive, says Kanepublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 12 June 2018

Harry Kane isn't known for throwing his weight around on the pitch, but he says both he and England will be no pushovers in the physical department at the World Cup.

"The aim is to be aggressive and brave in possession," said the 24-year-old England forward.

"We want to take this tournament head on. There will be tough moments, and ups and downs. Sometimes going into a big tournament is about not losing and being passive but, for us, it's about playing attacking football.

"We are aiming to win the first game, then to target the second, and take that attitude to the World Cup."

Relegated Sunderland are resigned to losing defender Paddy McNair this summer.

The Black Cats have already turned down two bids from Premier League Brighton, believed to be £2m and £3.5m but are braced for further inquiries about the 23-year-old, with Stoke and Derby amongst a number of Championship clubs monitoring the situation.

McNair moved to the Stadium of Light from Manchester United in a £5.5m joint deal with Donald Love in 2016.

Gareth Southgate and his players fly into Russia later today ahead of their latest World Cup campaign.

Judging by some data collated by Travelport, it seems the skies are going to be quite busy for the next month or so.

In fact, there will be a staggering 136,503 more people flying in to Russia between 14 June and 15 July than there were in the same period last year - when the Confederations Cup was on - an increase of 34%.

Interestingly, two of the countries from where there is the greatest growth in numbers of bookings are not even involved in the World Cup, with 16,213 more people arriving in Russia from the United States and 8.855 from China.

In percentage terms, the biggest movers are Argentina (+939%) and Brazil (+711%).

Unsurprisingly, the country that has seen the greatest drop in bookings to Russia this month is Italy, who failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in their history.
