  1. "People thought we'd fall apart without Richarlison"published at 17:06 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Watford 2-0 Brighton

    Watford

    Watford captain Troy Deeney:

"We had a great start, got fans behind us early with our pressing which is what we aimed to do. To get the goals and Maxi having a tough year to put the work in nice to get the goals, two well-taken goals too.

"He’s not a bad player, he played in the Champions League final. People think we would fall apart because Richarlison left, this is a great squad. We’ve got Nathaniel Chalobah and Gerard Deulofeu to come back.

"We had a great pre-season and it showed with our fitness towards the end, so long may that continue. The gaffer has to take credit for that.

"Credit to Ben Foster too his kicking was sensational, kept us out of trouble.

"We’ve been working on our intensity and it has been working and that’s why I look so skinny."

    Not now though.

Bournemouth seal the game as Simon Francis picks Josh Murphy's pocket down the right and pulls the ball back for Callum Wilson to strike home with a first-time finish.

This doesn't look good for Steve Cook. A free-kick goes into the Bournemouth box and he takes the full force of Sean Morrison's head against his own.

Looks like Watford have done more than enough. They lead 2-0 and the ball is spending most of its time in the Brighton half. Impressive display from the Hornets, this. Some had tipped them to go done. Not on this evidence.
