  1. Welcome to the junglepublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

We'll have team news for you in about 15 minutes time.

First it's time for you to meet some of this season's eligible English top-flight newbies that could be strutting their stuff this afternoon.

    Aaaaaaaand here they are...

What about this for a stat, which I picked up from the Guardian this morning...

At the transfer deadline for English clubs at 17:00 BST on Thursday, the 10 clubs promoted to the top-flights in Germany, France, Italy and Spain had spent about £40m between them. Cardiff, Fulham and Wolves have spent nearly £200m.

Granted the European clubs still have time to narrow that gap with their windows being open longer, but still. The Premier League clubs must feel like Scrooge McDuck, diving into his gold coin-filled swimming pool.

  3. Fulham splash the cashpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

Jean Michael Seri, Maxime Le Marchand, Andre Schurrle, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Alfie Mawson, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (don't lie, you'd never heard of him either). They and more have all joined the Cottagers this summer as part of a £100m spree.

It has more than a few pundits tipping them to challenge for a top-half finish.

  4. Guess who's back, back againpublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

So it is a big welcome back to the top-flight for Cardiff and Fulham.

The pair have spent the last four seasons toiling away in the Championship and this is their reward.

It would be fair to say they have gone about their summer of preparation in somewhat different ways.

Cardiff have taken the conservative approach. Fulham, well, they've written a cheque or two.

But 3 o'clock on Saturday, in August, the sun shining, in your new shirt, watching new signings, the hope, the expectation and belief.

Unless you're fortunate enough to follow a team that is good at football, it's all downhill from here!
