Josh Murphy was a poor signing for Cardiff City. I watched him at Norwich City for the past two years and he is very inconsistent. And when he was playing at his best, he was a bang average Championship winger. And when playing poorly, it was woeful.

Jack Graham: Looking at our next fixtures, if Newcastle don’t get any points at Cardiff today, are we realistically going to get any points on the board before the back end of September?
*Newcastle face Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in their next three league games, before ending September against Crystal Palace and Leicester.

There is a not a great expectation for Cardiff this season, but they are going to enjoy it. The fans I speak to say they don't know what is going to happen, but they are just going to have fun.

On Paul Pogba's cryptic tweet:
The bottom line is that Paul Pogba is not happy. Why would you come out with such a message that reads the way it does? It sounds like it is something that he wants to directly verbalise towards the football club. Manchester United are not used to the players being in control. Pogba, when it comes to the business side of things, is huge. What he is worth to the football club is huge. But Jose Mourinho can be replaced. I'm hoping they both manage to sort it out so they can get over this.

I don’t think City will struggle without Kevin de Bruyne. They’ve got a lot of options. Phil Foden won the World Cup with my younger brother – he looked like he’d played for City for years during the Community Shield.
Leroy Sane got young player of the year. I was shocked he didn’t go to the World Cup. I hadn’t even heard of some of the German players. For him to miss out was unbelievable.

Manchester City's saving grace is that their first eight fixtures are pretty favourable so they look like they will be fine without Kevin de Bruyne. Everything he does lifts everybody around him. David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva are all very technical players but De Bruyne is that player who can open you up with one pass from 40 yards. They haven't got another like him. They don't exist these types of players, but they have plenty in back-up.
...here are some expert thoughts on the weekend's other matches...
Check out this interview with Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey - he's quite candid.

I think Cardiff need to get used to each other, how they play. Some times they click and hit the ground running.
I saw the game last week with Bobby Reid up front on his own and he struggled.

The away end at Cardiff City Stadium was a carnival the last time Newcastle were here in April 2017.
Already promoted, the travelling 4,000 fans were in buoyant mood throughout a 2-0 win which set the Magpies on their way to sealing the Championship title.
Cardiff needed another season in the second tier before rejoining Newcastle in the Premier League and, after a rather chastening opening defeat at Bournemouth, Neil Warnock's side will be eager to get off the mark as a daunting run of fixtures looms in September.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock makes four changes from their opening 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth.
On-loan midfielders Harry Arter and Victor Camarasa make their debuts, winger Josh Murphy earns a first start and striker Kenneth Zohore returns from injury. Bobby Reid, Callum Paterson, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Lee Peltier are the players who miss out.
Cardiff City: Etheridge; Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Bennett; Camarasa, Arter, Ralls; Murphy, Hoilett, Zohore.
Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez makes just one change from their 2-1 loss at home to Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday, with Javier Manquillo replacing the injured DeAndre Yedlin.
Newcastle: Dubravka; Manquillo, Lascelles, Clark, Dummett; Ritchie, Diame, Shelvey, Kenedy; Perez, Joselu.

I would expect Neil Warnock's side to make things a lot more difficult for Newcastle in their first home game back in the top flight.
And the Bluebirds fans will play a part too - they have to, because Cardiff's home form is going to play a huge role in their survival fight.
Lawro's prediction: 1-1

Cardiff make four changes with £10m striker Bobby Reid dropped to the bench.
And Newcastle make one change - no great surprise that Javier Manquillo comes in.

Cardiff v Newcastle (12:30 BST)
There is no current team in the Premier League against whom Cardiff have a worse record.
And there is no present top-flight team against whom Newcastle have a better record.
The last 10 games between these two have all gone United's way. In fact, Cardiff's last league victory in this fixture came at home in the Second Division in 1981, while their last top-flight win against the Magpies was in 1961.
Cardiff v Newcastle (12:30 BST)
Cardiff won just five home games during their only previous Premier League campaign in 2013-14 (D5, L9). They'll need to do considerably better this season if they're going to stay up.
