He gets what is his first sniff of a chance from the edge of the box but true to his quiet display he slices it wide.

Zaha does everything he can, finding space on the left before driving over a low ball that beats everyone in the middle. All it needed was a decent touch.

If you're Palace now you're thinking 'just give me one chance'. Can they take it if they do get it, maybe through the brilliance of Wilfried Zaha?

Max Meyer, a summer signing for Palace and highly rated German, is on for his debut and to try and salvage something for his side. He replaces Jeff Schlupp.

Soon after, Wayne Hennessey has to claw away a Mo Salah header.

Now then, is that a penalty for Palace? Michael Oliver says no!

James McArthur tries to trick his way through a host of bodies and goes down following a tackle from Georginio Wijnaldum, leading to huge screams from the stands, but nothing from Oliver.

Liverpool are going to create even more chances now. Mo Salah drives in from the right and sets up Sadio Mane for a low shot that Wayne Hennessey saves.

Lewis: Another embarrassing decision. Premier League already looks ancient compared to other leagues/WC without VAR.

Khan Karn: Red card, yes but feel Salah should have carried on to shoot because 2-0 more important than a man advantage

Robin Gelder: Should have only been yellow, Salah lost control of the ball

It may sound odd, but that was probably a 'good' red card. Had Wan-Bissaka not committed the foul, Salah would probably have scored and ended the game.

Palace are up against it now, but still in with a shout.

Joel Ward - a right-back - is on to fill the void left by Wan-Bissaka, replacing Andros Townsend.

Salah takes the free-kick, trying to chip it into the top corner but it deflects behind off the head of James Tomkins.

The resulting corner is punched clear by Wayne Hennessey, who then has to dive to save a shot from range.

It's a red card. Aaron Wan-Bissaka brings Mo Salah down and the referee has no choice. He's timed so many tackles so well and he had to make it, but he gets that all wrong.

He gets a standing ovation from the Palace fans.

Palace's woes continue. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has had a really good game, so this is a real shame for him and his side.

Liverpool play a long ball forward that finds Mohamed Salah through on goal. Wan-Bissaka gets back at him and sticks out a leg that sends Salah to the turf just outside the box.

As soon as Michael Oliver adjudges it a foul he has no choice. Out comes the red card.

Wilfried Zaha finally gets a sight of goal and he manages to find the target as well after cutting inside. His shot from 12 yards goes through legs but is claimed by the well-positioned Alisson.

I don't think Christian Benteke has had too big an impact. You just want to shake him and say "give me more".

It's one big lump on for another. This is an opportunity for Sorloth to make a name for himself in a Palace shirt as that centre-forward shirt looks up for grabs.

Grahame Nateby: These are the games where we have to grind out a result and claim the 3 points, especially if we are going to be genuine title contenders. We have more depth on the bench. Let's see in Klopp uses it tonight .

Mark Taylor: Chris Sutton is being a bit disrespectful towards Palace. Why not a big win for them, to get confidence, and who knows? Another Leicester maybe.

Christian Benteke's troubled evening is brought to an end. On comes Alexander Sorloth, another big forward. He's yet to score for Palace since joining last season, although he has had injury problems.
