It's important for Jurgen Klopp and for Liverpool to get the job done here. They finished 25 points behind Manchester City last season and this is a big game for them.

The real danger for Palace now is that while they are more of a threat at the Liverpool end, they are now presenting more space near their own box. It is the kind of situation Salah, Mane and Firmino are built to capitalise on.

Palace are playing like a team who feel hard done by at that penalty decision. They are really pushing Liverpool back now.

There are a few candidates to hit it but Luka Milivojevic steps up and curls an effort that beats the wall but not Alisson, who dives to palm it away.

Down on the touchline, Jurgen Klopp punches the air like he's Daniel LaRusso cutting five sheets of ice in half.

That is brilliant from Zaha. He goes past two Liverpool defenders with great feet. I'm not so sure that was a yellow card for Alexander-Arnold though.

Wilfried Zaha wins a very dangerous free-kick for his side, on the edge of the box. The Palace winger has five Liverpool players for company but twists and turns while carrying the ball before drawing the foul from Trent Alexander-Arnold, who picks up a yellow card.

Now what can Palace do with the set-piece.

Jurgen Klopp is furious in his technical area but I don't know why! Liverpool broke so quickly, starting with the keeper. Salah dinked it over the keeper but couldn't get the desired finish.

Liverpool should be 2-0 up. Andrew Robertson does everything he can to tee up Mo Salah with a through ball that sees the forward break the offside trap. Salah chips the ball over the diving Wayne Hennessey but takes it too far and wide. His pull-back finds Sadio Mane, but the shot dribbles past the far post.

There is a zip about Palace at the start of the half.

They get the ball out wide to Jeff Schlupp and his low ball is a beauty, but nobody can steer it goalwards.

Boos greet Mohamed Salah's first touch, followed by chants of "cheat".

He looks pretty unruffled by it all though.

Nick: think Liverpool are nailed on for the title if they get decisions like that. First the foul that wasn't and a free gift of a penalty from the ref.

Fi3ld: enough contact to send Salah down? Only if he decides to fall. Kane would be proud.

Neil Harris: Nailed on pen. Of course any side aren't happy with getting given a pen against them, but there was no doubt at all about it.
