Barry: With all these 'great' players now at Chelsea and a new manager, all we need today is to sign a striker like Mo Salah who can score 40 goals this season and we should win the league easily!

Chelsea's new goalkeeper Kepa is holding a press conference as we speak.

He says: "I am incredibly happy to be here. It’s a great challenge to me and means a lot. It’s a great step forward in my career.

"In terms of my price, it’s something I don’t think about. I will just try to be myself and do the best I can."

Max Nethercott: As an Arsenal fan, still think we need another centre back. Not sure Mustafi can go long enough without making a big mistake, Sokratis is good but only for a couple of years. Everything else is looking okay.

Is this the first one through the door today?

Leander Dendoncker has been captured on a season long loan from Anderlecht. It'll become a permanent signing come next summer and beats the heartbreak of Zinchenko giving Wolves the cold shoulder.

The calibre of this signing fits nicely into the appeal Wolves currently have in the transfer market. The defender/midfielder can become that 'utility man' Wolves have been searching for.

Any more to come? We've still got rumours of Danny Simpson, Victor Moses and James Ward-Prowse.

There's room for one more Portuguese international, surely?

In 2003, Chelsea signed France midfielder Claude Makelele from Real Madrid for about £16m.

Despite being 30 when he joined, he spent five years at the heart of the Blues midfield and won two Premier League titles.

He currently manages Belgian side Eupen.

Spurs are not even close to signing anyone and we're slowly losing our best players. If building a new stadium means more of this for the next few years, I won't even be following Spurs any more, let alone going to home games.

  9. Poch 'not worried'published at 14:39 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

    Tottenham Hotspur

It looks like being a whole summer without one single signing for Tottenham, but Mauricio Pochettino isn't troubled.

"We have a very good squad, we have very good players and it is not easy to add players that improve that," he said.

"And of course we didn’t sell players and with 25 players in the squad it’s difficult to add players. It’s not add because we need to add because it’s fashionable to sign players, it’s because if you really need to or not. And then if you can achieve your target or not.

"Our targets are always in the same level of Real Madrid or Manchester United or Manchester City, but for different circumstances we cannot achieve that. But, I am not worried, I am not sad, I am so happy."

A bit more info on that Wolves signing of Leander Dendoncker - he's signed on an initial season-long loan which will be made permanent next summer. Which seems a bit unnecessary to me but there you go.

He's Wolves' sixth signing of the summer.

There are rumours coming from Estonia that their greatest ever export is wanted by Rafa Benitez and Newcastle.

Personally, I hope Liverpool wouldn’t sell Ragnar Klavan for any price. The “Klavan 17” song (to the tune of MK - 17) is priceless and so are his 6/10s week in, week out.

He’s also probably the best fourth-choice centre half in the world…

    Manchester City

    Joe HartImage source, Getty Images

With just one significant signing so far this transfer window, most of the attention has been on who's leaving the Etihad this summer. Understandably Joe Hart has attracted most column inches.

There has been some debate about whether we should be attaching the 'City legend' label to him or not. Following many years of underachievement at the club with no silverware, Joe spent 12 years at City making 348 appearances, he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a couple of League Cups, and four golden gloves. He was a vital part of the spine of that team. During his time at City he amassed 75 England caps.

No debate - he's a City legend and I'm sure he's delighted to discover one of our training pitches is being named after him! Along with most City fans I look forward to welcoming him back and paying tribute when Burnley visit the Etihad in October.

  19. Reference of the day...published at 14:23 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

    Brighton & Hove Albion

    Geoffrey Hughes

British defenders and Brighton go together like Onslow from Keeping Up Appearances and his trusty vest. So it will come as no surprise to hear that Chris Hughton is about to add another with the £3.5m acquisition of Dan Burn being very close to completion.

The centre back is currently sidelined with a broken foot and as a result, will be loaned straight back to Wigan until January to get match fit.

That would mean the Albion still only have three central defenders for the first half of the season and it doesn't take Trevor Eve's detective character from Waking the Dead to work out that might not be enough. In which case, expect Hughton to move for one more centre back by the end of the day.
