  1. (Late) four hour warningpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

I was planning on putting this entry in three minutes ago. Oh well, waste not want not.

Clubs, you now have three hours and 57 minutes to do your business.

There is money. Spend it, spend it, spend more.

  2. The results are inpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

Earlier today we asked you which club most needs a successful transfer deadline day.

Well, the vote has now closed and the results are in.

Not entirely surprisingly Tottenham and Manchester United vied for the top spot, with the London club coming out on top with 34% of the vote.

Once again, Spurs have not signed anyone.

  3. Poch on the spotpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

Mauricio Pochettino is just sitting down to talk to the press. I think - and I might be wrong - that he will be asked about Tottenham not signing anyone so far in the window.

  4. Talk of the Toonpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

BBC Newcastle are reporting that the Magpies are hoping to sign defender Marlon on loan from Barcelona before the deadline - but need to obtain a work permit for the 22-year-old Brazilian.

Meanwhile, Swansea have rejected United's offer for centre back Federico Fernandez, but talks between the clubs are continuing.

BBC Newcastle also understands there's no truth in reports linking The Magpies with a move for Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck.

National League side Gateshead are hoping to sign the former Newcastle United centre half Mike Williamson on a free transfer this week.

Williamson, who left St James' Park in 2016, has moved back to the north east with his family.

The 34-year-old has spent the summer training with Steve Watson's team and featured once in pre-season.

Still nothing going on at St. Mary’s - and we are not expecting that to change. None in. None out.

The frustration within the fanbase, about the lack of a much-needed quality attacker being signed, is likely to add some fuel to the fire of next week’s fans' forum - which is due to feature both Ralph Krueger and Les Reed.

Middlesbrough are close to agreeing the terms of a loan deal for Everton’s Bosnian midfielder Mo Besic.

Besic was one of Boro’s top performers last season when he joined on loan in January, he is understood to have picked a return to Tony Pulis’ side over joining Leeds United.

'But what is happening at Middlesbrough?' I hear you cry. How are they going to spend all that Traore money? Thankfully, we've got Steve Crossman...

  8. 'Realising a dream'published at 12:47 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

"Today I am realising a dream. This is the best club in the world."

Anthony Gerrard there, talking after his move to Carlisle. Only kidding. These are, of course, the words of Thibaut Courtois, who seems pretty chuffed at having joined Real Madrid.

He's mugged Real president Florentino Perez right off with his height as well...

If I was on the United board, there's no way I'd give Mourinho any more money. He's got two centre halves in Bailly & Lindelof that were his signings, but he never plays them. He's got Pogba (his signing) but has fallen out with him, Mkhitaryan (his signing) sold. That squad is perfectly good enough to challenge but Mourinho won't use the players at his disposal correctly. Rashford & Martial are exciting players but he has ruined their confidence. He's getting his excuses in & now he's basically said that he's got to make do with the players he has....way to go Jose for making your players feel good enough. He'll be gone by November

My word, West Ham have had a busy old window. Some decent business in there, though, I reckon.

Ryan Fredericks was cracking for Fulham last season, Jack Wilshere has a point to prove, Felipe Anderson has been coveted by some big clubs in the recent past and Andriy Yarmolenko is obviously useful.

Plus, they have a Premier League winning manager in the house now as well.

Looks like a busy day at West Ham.

According to BBC's Radio 5 live's senior football reporter Ian Dennis, Carlos Sanchez looks sets to arrive from Serie A club Fiorentina.

The Colombian international had two seasons at Aston Villa between 2014-16 and was the first player to be sent off at the World Cup.

He will add a bit more bite to the Hammers midfield and provide a replacement for Cheikhou Kouyate, who moved on to Crystal Palace earlier this summer.

  14. Meanwhile, over at Man City...published at 12:28 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Manchester City defender Oleksandr Zinchenko has turned down a move to Wolves.

With Benjamin Mendy fit again after knee surgery, 21-year-old Zinchenko’s route to the first-team is blocked.

Wolves were keen on the Ukraine international, who joined City in 2016 and spent a season on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

However, Zinchenko has decided against the move and will remain at City, at least for the short term.

  15. Navas not up for leavingpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

It is a six-season deal for Courtois at Real. You'd think he'd be their number one now, not that Keylor Navas is giving up the shirt without a fight.

Despite Courtois' arrival, Costa Rican international Navas is determined to stay. Onda Cero, external, via the Sun, bring us this belting quote: "I say this with force, I have the same desire to leave that I have to die."

    Fair enough.

  19. Bielsa speaks, we listenpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

Now what's the score over at Leeds?

They've made five signings this summer, including forward Patrick Bamford, and defender Barry Douglas.

And it seems manager boss Marcelo Bielsa has not ruled out any further incoming players - saying he could not provide a definite answer when asked about new signings at a press conference earlier.

The Argentinian did though reiterate his desire to have two players for each position with 18 at the same level and four younger players striving for the first team.

There is less pressure on him now, though, after his side put pre-season favourites Stoke away with a belter of a display last Sunday.

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock...

I could just do this for the rest of the afternoon, really amp up the pressure.

I won't though. The pressure will start to tell without it. Some big clubs with business to do. Will Man Utd give Jose something to smile about? Are Tottenham going to do, well, anything?

We've got just under five hours to find out.
