    Right then.

Earlier on we wondered how transfer fees are actually paid. Does one club do a bank transfer to another? Does the chairman have to log on to his online banking?

    We might have an answer...

  2. 'Arter to Cardiff? Yes please'published at 11:22 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

We've had strong links with a loan move for both Victor Caramasa from Real Betis and Harry Arter from Bournemouth - both are creative midfielders, an area Neil Warnock needs to strengthen. Given a choice Harry Arter looks the better out of the two with his Premier League experience and a better goal scoring record.

A loan move would be good for Cardiff with the club not over committing financially if survival is not achieved. Bournemouth have strengthened in midfield, and Real Betis are also strong in that area, so may be keen to get them off the books for a season.

Let’s hope Warnock and the club can get the deals across the line

    Stoke City

Stoke City have agreed a fee with Swansea to sign midfielder Sam Clucas.

The former Hull midfielder is understood to be having a medical with the Potters.

Clucas had been understood to be close to a move to Premier League Burnley, but the move collapsed as they could not agree personal terms with the Swansea City midfielder.

It is understood Stoke have agreed a fee of just over £6m for the left-footed midfielder.

For once, deadline day feels quite nice, having seen us do our pro-active business early. I think most fans wouldn't say no to a centre back or a winger but in general, are happy.

The focus must be on outgoings with Ospina, Perez and even Welbeck perhaps leaving us. There has been a question mark over Aaron Ramsey but perhaps it's all gone quiet because clubs have been told he will be signing a new contract today - here's hoping!

BBC Radio Nottingham's Robin Chipperfield tells us that Forest are close to signing Huddersfield defender Michael Hefele today.

And Kayden Jackson has signed for Championship side Ipswich Town for more than £1m in a new record deal for Accrington Stanley.

The striker scored 16 goals last season as Stanley won the League Two title and was impressive in pre-season against higher league opposition.

  8. No Zinchenko for Wolves?published at 11:10 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

The first twist of the day?

It looks like Man City's Oleksandr Zinchenko has decided not to pursue a move to the Golden Palace according to reports.

This one has been mulling over during the summer after the clubs agreed a £16m fee. Zinchenko offered the classic 'utility man' traits Wolves needed to strengthen their ranks, especially in the wing-back positions.Things could change of course, but this one looks done and dusted.

    Hang on. *Picks up phone.*

Ryan: Leicester signing a centre-back doesn't mean Maguire will go. They've needed another one for two years now.

Toby: Not sure why Chelsea need any more midfielders when they got a great deal in Ross Barkley only a few months ago - surely he was one for the future!

  10. 'A welcome surprise'published at 11:06 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

    West Ham United

I really wasn't expecting us to do too much business today so it was a welcome surprise to see us sign Lucaz Perez.

It's not a signing that excited me as much as Anderson and Wilshere but it's really promising that we are signing back-up players of Perez's quality as opposed to Jordan Hugill (no offence Jordan - good luck at Boro)

Arsenal spent big on him and he didn't really live up to the price tag but he has Premier League experience at the Gunners that can only benefit us.

I feel like we're now getting to the stage where we have the makings of a great squad as opposed to a strong starting XI.
