Right, that Lucas Perez fee might not be £6.5m. The £6.5m comes from West Ham's elaborate fantasy football-style unveiling and might just be what he costs in the Premier League game.

The actual fee might be nearer £4m.

Seriously, clubs who make those videos should face a points deduction.

Although Kepa conceded 43 goals in 30 league games last season, that was mainly due to the deficiencies of the weak team in front of him.

His greatest assets are lightning-fast reflexes, allowing him to make stunning close-range stops, and calm composure in even the most frenetic of penalty areas.

And although eyebrows have been raised by the huge fee for a player with just two seasons of top flight experience, the consensus in Spain regards Kepa as the country’s best young goalkeeper with a very bright future.

  9. A tale of two keeperspublished at 10:20 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

Liverpool and Chelsea took turns breaking the goalkeeper fee record this summer by signing Alisson Becker and Kepa Arrizabalaga respectively. Both arrive highly-rated but, while only time will tell whether Kepa can fill Courtois’ golden gloves, Alisson looks an obvious upgrade for Liverpool.

For fantasy managers, both keepers offer relatively cheap routes into what are expected to be two of the Premier League’s tightest defences but it’s perhaps Alisson’s influence on Liverpool’s defence as a whole that is of most interest. If he helps them to improve on last season’s 17 clean sheets, Allison’s presence will enhance the output of the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson whose additional potential for attacking returns might see them get the nod as the Liverpool fantasy defenders of choice.

  10. Kepa part of keeper merry-go-roundpublished at 10:17 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

    Andy West
Spanish football writer at Nou Camp

It’s ironic that Kepa Arrizabalaga is heading to Chelsea to replace Real Madrid-bound Thibaut Courtois, because just a few months ago he nearly simplified the goalkeeper merry-go-round by moving to the Bernabeu himself.

In January, Real moved for Kepa by offering to pay his €20 million buy-out clause with Athletic Bilbao, but he rejected that opportunity by signing a new seven-year contract with the Basque club.

He joined Athletic at the age of nine, but after advancing into the senior squad in 2012 his rise was steady rather than spectacular.

Following loan spells with second tier Ponferradina and Real Valladolid, he finally became a starter for Athletic early in the 2016/17 season, quickly establishing himself by showing impressive poise and maturity.

So, just to confirm, that is ANOTHER midfielder to join Chelsea.

It could mean that Tiemoue Bakayoko is on his way out at some point, maybe Danny Drinkwater (remember him?) too.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be wondering where he might get a game too.

  14. Chelsea sign Kovacicpublished at 10:08 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

Upon arriving at Stamford Bridge, Kovacic said: "I am really happy and excited to be here at Chelsea. It is an amazing feeling. I will try to do my best for this club. It is a new league for me, the beginning is always tough but I am sure the coach and my new team-mates will help me and I am looking forward to a great season."

  15. Chelsea sign Kovacicpublished at 10:07 British Summer Time 9 August 2018

Kovacic signed for Real from Inter Milan in 2015 and has been part of the squad that has won three consecutive Champions League titles.

Chelsea are stocked in midfield, but if a player like Kovacic is available, then you have to get him.

Real Madrid didn't want to let Kovacic go permanently, because they want him to come back and replace Luke Modric.
