  1. goal

    GOALpublished at 53 mins

    Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool (Roberto Firmino)

Sadio Mane is the architect of this goal with his energy and pace down the left, but Michel Vorm will feel he could have done better again.

Vorm can do nothing as Mane's low cross is turned against his own post by Jan Vertonghen but, with the Spurs keeper on the ground, he sees the ball bounce back through his hands and perfectly into the path of Roberto Firmino, who is standing on the goal-line to convert the easiest goal he will score in his life.

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger at Wembley for 5 live Sport

Lucas Moura looks a real player. Great first touch, came inside, and he tried to wrong-foot the keeper by going for the near post. Alisson was on his heels, thinking the shot was going to come across him. Moura is by some distance Tottenham's most dangerous player.

This half Tottenham need to up the tempo and improve their quality in the final third. But thus far they have simply not created enough chances.

  4. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 50 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Lucas Moura has got pace to burn and Liverpool just cannot stop him as he drives into the box from the left. He gets his shot away too, and it is a good one... zipping along the Wembley turf and crashing against the outside of Allison's right-hand post.

    Close, but no cigar.

  5. Mane denied by Vormpublished at 48 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Here come Liverpool again. The Spurs full-backs are caught high up the pitch and the ball is worked to Sadio Mane inside the box. Naby Keita is in space to his left but Mane goes for goal and his effort is well saved by Michel Vorm.

  6. A fast start to the second halfpublished at 47 mins

    Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Action at both ends to start the second half.

Joe Gomez's mistake lets in Lucas Moura but Virgil van Dijk is across to snuff out the danger.

Liverpool launch a quick counter and Andy Robertson's cross is headed behind by Toby Alderweireld, with the ball glancing the woodwork on its way.

Well at least Liverpool are heading in the right direction…

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

This feels flat as a spectacle, to be honest. It's never got going and both keepers haven't had a lot to do. Liverpool have carried the biggest threat on the counter-attack but both sides are largely cancelling each other out.

The Reds have more of a spark about them while Spurs have worked hard to get into good areas but have not had that final pass. It's a hard game to call with a lot more still to come.

Kevin Logan: Another top performance so far from Joe Gomez today! Repelling anything that comes his way

Kiran: As a Spurs fan I can't bear to watch Danny Rose play anymore. Should have sold him when we had the chance. He's given the ball away with each of his last passes. Dembele looking up for it.

  12. Spurs pay for carelessnesspublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 15 September 2018

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Wembley

Spurs have been sloppy throughout and escaped but not that time and Liverpool lead at the interval. Possession conceded cheaply leads to a corner then a dreadful flap from Vorm.

They look lethargic in all areas of the pitch whereas Liverpool, in contrast, do not.

Big half-time team talk for Mauricio Pochettino here as Spurs have been strictly second best apart from a brief spell.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:16

Liverpool are half-way to making it five wins out of five.

Tottenham have room for considerable improvement, and are quite fortunate not to be further behind.

  15. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Just one minute of added time to be played at Wembley. I am sure Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has quite a lot to say to his players when he gets them back in the dressing room.

  17. Wijnaldum fancies a second goalpublished at 43 mins

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

A chance for a second Liverpool goal, as Georginio Wijnaldum finds himself in acres of space on the right of the area.

Roberto Firmino is waiting in the middle but Wijnaldum has just scored the first Premier League away goal of his career so you can hardly blame him for having another pop... but his scuffed effort trundles wide.

  18. 'Vorm's punch clear was not good enough'published at 13:12 British Summer Time 15 September 2018

    Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger at Wembley for 5 live Sport

You wouldn't think a Liverpool goal would come from a set-piece! Vorm's punch clear was not good enough, terrible, and he had to get back up and try to claw the return header out. But he just couldn't get there.

Ironically, Tottenham had been playing well up to that point. If you're the goalkeeper you have to put your hands up and claim responsibility for conceding that.

  19. goal

GOAL - Tottenham 0-1 Liverpoolpublished at 39 mins

    Georginio Wijnaldum

Oh dear. Michel Vorm will not like looking at replays of this one.

The Spurs keeper fails to deal with a James Milner corner at the near post and Toby Alderweireld's clearance is headed straight back at goal from Georginio Wijnaldum.

Vorm gets both hands on it as it sails over Kieran Trippier's head... the only problem is that he is about a foot behind his goal-line as he pushes it away.

Is all the ball over the line? To the naked eye it looks like it is, and Hawk-eye confirms it.

  20. Spurs showing signs of lifepublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 15 September 2018

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Wembley

Ir was a pretty grim opening quarter of this game for Spurs as Liverpool's pace and movement, as well as their intense pressing, threatened to over-run Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Spurs have finally responded with an improved spell and their fans have responded accordingly - Liverpool still an ever-present danger though.
