    Man Utd 1-0 Everton

United above Everton and into eight as it stands - they would be five points off the top four.

    Too soon?

  2. CLOSE!published at 37 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Everton

Unlucky! Really good play from Gylfi Sigurdsson though as he starts and ends a move. He holds off Nemanja Matic and gets the ball wide to Seamus Coleman, he is able to pick out the Icelander arriving in the middle but Sigurdsson can only head straight at David de Gea.

  3. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Everton

A very strong challenge from Ashley Young on Lucas Digne, the England man flies in. No cards shown.

  4. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 36 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Everton

Manchester United stepping on the gas a touch now, they are a long way from their best but there's definitely pressure building.

After a few scruffy blocked crosses - one which hit Michael Keane on the arm - Fred lashes a 25-yarder just wide.

  5. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Everton

Theo Walcott finds space on the corner of the area and clips in a half cross/half shot which falls tantalisingly between Chris Smalling and David de Gea. It ends up passing very close to the far post and away...

Paul Pogba is obviously a confident young man.

Anyone who can take that amount of time running up to a penalty can't be suffering from nerves.

Imagine the criticism he would have got if that had not ended in a goal to the hosts.

Mic: Pogba doesn’t deserve that goal. Rubbish run up, rubbish penalty. I’m a United supporter and disgusted.

Momo: that was never a penalty. The save deserved a better rebound. Gutted

Sho: Wow Pogba is lucky there. Was a shocking initial pen and he just has to stop that run up, it's embarrassing.

  10. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 30 mins

    Man Utd 1-0 Everton

    Is that two!? No!

Everton are terrified of Anthony Martial, mind. He cuts into the area, he's shepherded in by the defence. He finds Fred, whose shot is parried by Jordan Pickford, Marcus Rashford sweeps it in but he's offside.

Pogba has got the slowest run up I have ever seen. Fabulous penalty save by Pickford, but it goes straight back to Pogba, Pickford has't got the luck.

That Paul Pogba appoach is truly bizarre. It's probably catching on in playgrounds around the country though.

    Paul Pogba (27 mins)

Paul Pogba to take, he does his now trademark step-by-step approach, seems to take an age...SAVED!

Jordan Pickford reads it and saves, but Pogba is able to react and side-foot the loose ball home.

  14. PENALTY MAN UTDpublished at 26 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

That will do it! Straight from the Granit Xhaka playbook. Idrissa Gueye hangs a leg out and Anthony Martial goes over it.

Everton are livid but referee Jon Moss has no doubt.

Almost 60% of possesion for the hosts. No breakthrough yet though.

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

    Ronny Goodlass

That's why he plays on the left, Anthony Martial likes to tuck in. He's hit that well but Jordan Pickford has done well to palm that away.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 24 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

Better! Really clean hit from Anthony Martial, cutting in from the left and smashing a rising drive which has a bit of wobble on it. Jordan Pickford gets set bang behind it and punches it away to safety.

A save he should make, but one he needed to.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 22 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

United break, Fred pushes it past Idrissa Gueye, who just bodychecks the Brazilian. Doesn't even bother looking back, he knows that's a booking.

  19. 'Not Mata's strength'published at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 28 October 2018

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

    Ronny Goodlass
Former Everton winger on BBC Radio Merseyside

That should have been the first goal. Martial stops Seamus Coleman and then does him for pace.

Maybe not one of his strengths, Juan Mata who heads it into the ground. There is not enough power and a comfortable save.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

First booking of the game goes to Chris Smalling, he caught Richarlison on the ankle.

That's one good headed chance per side in this opening act.
