  2. Mourinho could frustrate Liverpoolpublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

Liverpool v Man Utd (16:00 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on Radio 5 live

The gap is so vast at the moment and the way they play football is worlds apart.

There are only positives to talk about when you talk about Liverpool but they will be tested today. Joe Gomez is injured and has been huge for them, it is a testing time of the year generally.

They are well equipped, performing at the top level and if they can stay within five points of Manchester CIty by March, top teams can crumble under the pressure.

This game plays into Jose Mourinho's hands, he could frustrate Liverpool. He is a massive underdog but this is where he thrives.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Southampton 2-1 Arsenal

What a half. The best atmosphere in Southampton for a long old time.

Arsenal don't get going until the second half though, as we well know.

  5. 'Unbelievable header'published at 14:16 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Southampton 2-1 Arsenal

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Everybody stopped and thought it was going wide or over. Bernd Leno doesn't even move - in all fairness, he wouldn't have got there if he tried.

It floats right into the top corner. It's an unbelievable header.

Hector Bellerin is limping for Arsenal. Unai Emery likes a half-time change and he may be forced into one today.

  7. goal

GOAL - Southampton 2-1 Arsenalpublished at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Danny Ings (44 mins)

Targetman extraordinaire! Danny Ings doesn't score a header in the Premier League for three years and then he nets two in 25 minutes. It's an odd looking goal, Nathan Redmond floats in a cross from the right, Ings is ahead of his man and angles, guides a looping header into the corner.

There wasn't the most power on it, and Bernd Leno didn't even move...

  8. CLOSE!published at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Brighton 0-2 Chelsea

Fine from from Ngolo Kante V2.0, driving forwards from midfield, beating a man and then finding Pedro screaming up at pace on his shoulder. He whips in a cross which Lewis Dunk heads on to the roof od the net. From the corner, Toni Rudiger meets ut brilliantly but heads it about a yard wide. There was a man on the post.

  9. 'Sometimes you've got to go long'published at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Bernd Leno took a touch out of his feet but then fired a rocket at Stephan Lichtsteiner, which was difficult to control, and Southampton closed him down.

However much you want to play out from the back, sometimes you've got to do the right thing and hit it long. We saw it with Everton yesterday and they ended up conceding.

  10. Postpublished at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

It's a low bar, and an incomplete picture, but this is as well as I've seen Southampton play in a long time. Stuart Armstrong gets a shot away from the edge of a crowded area and it's deflected into the arms of Bernd Leno.

That Arsenal leveller has put the Saints back into the relegation zone - Burnley scramble out. For now.

RE NicLewis - if you could send in another text at about the 60 minute telling us how Lacazette never comes on and scores a hat trick, I'd love that #mockers

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

Really decent game this. Southampton fans are in fine voice as Danny Ings and Stuart Armstrong hare across the pitch to close Arsenal down and win the ball back cheaply.

  14. 'Incredible interception'published at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

That's as good as a goal at the other end. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a tap-in but Jan Bednarek stretches and somehow hooks the ball away before it gets to Aubameyang. It's a crucial interception, incredible.

  15. goal

GOAL - Brighton 0-2 Chelseapublished at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Eden Hazard (33 mins)

So, so easy. Brilliantly taken by a fine player, but it all comes from an error.

Leon Balogun 's pass out of defence is cut out by Willian, the Brazilian takes a touch and then, from inside his own half releases Eden Hazard in on goal.

Hazard has space to run into and never looks like missing. He even gives Mat Ryan the eyes as he slots into the back of the net.

  16. Iwobi's drive and desirepublished at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

It was all down to Alex Iwobi's drive and desire down the left and a fabulous ball from Nacho Monreal, who looked up and picked out Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and it was a great header.

  17. Postpublished at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Brighton 0-1 Chelsea

Good from Brighton again, they fashion a space to get a shot away and Solly March obliges from 20 yards. It's gun-barrel straight though, right at Kepa Arrizabalaga.

  18. CLOSE!published at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

Arsenal come to life! Should be ahead now, lovely football sees Matteo Guendouzi slide in Lucas Torreira down the side of the Saints defence, he put it on a plate for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but he's denied by a fine last-ditch interception by Jan Bednarek.

Aubameyang had pulled the trigger, must have thought he had scored...

  19. goal

GOAL - Southampton 1-1 Arsenalpublished at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

    Henrikh Mkhitaryan (28 mins)

    In your face, NicLewis!

That's another very good header. Another very good goal, Alex Iwobi starts it on the left with a surging run and plays in Nacho Monreal down the line. Monreal has to sprint to keep it in but does, and more than that picks out a lovely cross back to the penalty spot, where the arriving Henrikh Mkhitaryan plants a header down and into the far corner.

NicLewis: This is the worst we’ve played all season- absolutely dire first half. Can’t even get into their half. Mhiki and Iwobi have no creativity and Emery always subs them so why start them?
