    West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini worked with new signing Samir Nasri while in charge at Manchester City and he thinks the midfielder will add "another dimension" to the Hammers' attack.

    "He has been working very hard here in recent weeks to build up his fitness and condition after a long period without playing, and he is now very determined to return to his best," said Pellegrini.

    "Samir will give us another dimension in our attacking play. He is a very technical player, with excellent quality on the ball, and the ability to create big moments in important matches."

    The USA player is staying with Dortmund until next season though.

    Interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take his squad to the UAE after their FA Cup third round tie with Reading on Saturday.

    Solskjaer believes the trip will allow him to get to know his players after an intense period following his arrival as Jose Mourinho's replacement.

    Huddersfield are close to completing the loan signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Jason Puncheon.

    Terriers boss David Wagner is desperate to reinforce his squad, which has dropped to the bottom of the Premier League.

    Huddersfield have clear goal-scoring issues, having netted just 12 times in their 20 top flight games so far this season, but also feel they need to create more chances.

    Puncheon, 32, has fallen out of favour at Palace this season. His five Premier League appearances have totalled just 11 minutes.

    West Ham signed former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri this week - on the day he completed a doping ban.

    The 31-year-old Frenchman had been without a club since January 2018, after leaving Turkish club Antalyaspor.

    Nasri, who has signed a deal until the end of the season, served an 18-month doping ban for using an intravenous drip treatment but is available to play again from 1 January.

    He won two Premier League titles and the League Cup in six years with City.
