Chelsea forward Pedro speaking to BT Sport: "It’s always good to get three points. I think the most important thing was teamwork, I’m so happy to win.

On his goal: “I try to find these combinations between the lines with Willian and find space. David Luiz passed the ball to me perfectly and I managed to score. I’m so happy to score the goal and help the team get three points.

On Chelsea’s top four chances: "The most important thing is to take it game by game. It’s good to get the win, build up our confidence and stay in the top four as that is our main target this year.”

Thing is Anthony, the 18 points that Newcastle have now is their lowest tally after 22 games of a top-flight season for 20 years. In that season, 1988-89, they were relegated.

Anthony: No shame in a well-fought, one-goal defeat at Stamford Bridge. Longstaff had good full debut, we responded after the first goal only to beaten by a top-drawer goal. Thought Perez and Rondon could have done better with chances. Chin up and onto the next one

All Chelsea and Arsenal fans have done today is moan about their teams and the performance of individual players. No doubt United fans will be at it tomorrow when Spurs give them the run around. Is the reason they dislike Liverpool fans so much because we don't boo our team of at half time and don't flood social media with negative comments when we are not playing well, in other words we are the true supporters they will never be.

Richard Browne: How do you NOT put a cross into the box from a corner in the last second?!?! Utterly ridiculous, no wonder Rafa has no hair!

It was an expected result. Looking at Newcastle, have they got enough to stay up? Yes they have.

They just need to put a little bit more into forward play. But that's up to Benitez to decide when he can sacrifice that defensive play.

In the end Chelsea were that little bit better technically than their opponents.

Short again! When you're a goal behind in the final minute of stoppage time, why wouldn't you put a cross into the box? Awful.

Newcastle really have to gamble now. In the olden days, we used to throw the centre back forward!
