That was basically Luiz's tribute to the departing Cesc Fabregas. One of the Spaniard's greatest hits. Chelsea corner coming up, won by the trickery of Eden Hazard.

Newcastle have to keep calm and try to get through the next 15 to 20 minutes with no more problems at the back.

They have to feel their way into the game.

Apparently, David Luiz has played 26 through-balls this season, more than twice of any other player in the Premier League. He's quietly having a blinding campaign, not long after not being able to get a kick under Antonio Conte.

Pedro with some magical skill takes out the ball from an enormous pass from David Luiz!

It was a delicate lob over the goalkeeper who wasn't far off his line. Such was the touch over the Slovakian goalkeeper, it resulted in the perfect start for Chelsea.

David Luiz's pass has carved Newcastle open there. It could be along afternoon for Newcastle.

    Pedro

A goal both simple and brilliant at the same time.

It's one long, pinpoint ball over the top from David Luiz, with Pedro nipping in between the Newcastle back three. One touch, then a deft loopy finish over Martin Dubravka.

Chelsea anxiety eased, a potentially long night for Newcastle begins.

Christian Atsu is wearing short sleeves and gloves. Players get a lot of stick for that, but it's definitely possible to have warm arms and cold hands.

When Newcastle got forward they will need try and get Christian Atsu to penetrate from the left.

Perez on the right will also try to support Salomon Rondon in the middle, who is strong, especially in the air.

But if Chelsea get gold of the game, Rondon could become an isolated figure.

Let's get used to looking to the right for the next 40 minutes or so. That is the goal that the home side are attacking. Bank of five, then four for the Toon, Salomon Rondon will have to talk to the Chelsea defenders if he wants some company.

Hopeful for a performance from the blues but with Hazard getting swarmed by that back five I can see a long night for him. Giroud up top with Hazard and Hudson-Odoi attacking off him would have been a nice surprise. Oh well.

I'm not convinced that "ambition" is something that we'll see a lot of from the Magpies. They have five men across the width of their own box. They are so close together that they look like a massive barcode.

We have to hope that Newcastle show some ambition, with those two wing-backs they will need to get hold of the midfield.

But it won't be easy away at Chelsea.

I can't see that catching on. There must be loads of reasons why you have had to abandon football in the past, though? Partner threatened to leave you? Cut off from civilisation? Deep anxiety of conceding late goals?

Benitez already copping it from the Chelsea fans...

Handshakes and backslaps as the players gather in the tunnel. Chelsea are wearing very smart white tracksuit tops. Newcastle, hard northerners for whom January is the height of summer, need no more than than the shirts on their backs. Blur's Parklife plays over the tannoy.

Sprinklers are pumping water on to the Stamford Bridge turf. The players might need their slick tyres. In one corner, high above the playing surface, the big screen reminds the patrons which teams are playing. At the mouth of the tunnel, flagbearers wrestle with poles the height of a small building.

Kyle: Huge game for both sides hopefully my team Newcastle will frustrate Chelsea early on as they seem to run out of ideas after a while. You always get chances against Luiz and Rudiger. Hopefully we will snatch a draw.
