Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle

Kenedy for me is a player who you have to believe in. Inspire him and build his confidence up but he looks like he’s got no confidence. He is a talent but he’s not performing at the moment.
I expect to see changes made for Newcastle to try and get them up the pitch and make an impact.

Uday T: Pathetic from Newcastle. Not a single player is trying to impress the boss. Ki seems to be good for puns but on the field has been poor... zero creativity. And Clark at LB looks like he’s playing with his shoelaces tied together. Dismal. Ugh!

The front four for Forest are pressing high and putting Newcastle under pressure. They’ve got options all over the pitch and it’s been very easy for them so far.
Newcastle look like they’re not bothered about this competition. Rafael Benitez will have to change things if they’re going to get back in this game.
Isaac Success (37 mins)
Nicely done.
Watford striker Isaac Success receives a pass inside the box from Adam Masina, goes round the goalkeeper and tucks home into an open net.
A successful finish.
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle

Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live
The problem at this stage of the season is that people are saying there are too many games and the players need to be rotated. For teams like Newcastle, this is a chance to make progress and maybe even win a trophy.
Forest are well worth their lead at half time.
Millwall 0-1 Plymouth
Jamie Ness putting Plymouth in front at The Den.
Everton 1-0 Rotherham
Gylfi Sigurdsson's goal the difference at the break.
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle
A former Newcastle man coming back to haunt them at the moment.
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle
Stephen Warnock
Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live
The midfield three of Nottingham Forest have sucked Newcastle's midfield two into difficult areas and played round them.
That's been really important so far.
Reading 0-0 Watford
A slick Reading passing culminates in a neat low cross from Chris Gunter which Marc McNulty controls, but he can only lift his effort over the crossbar.
Everton 1-0 Rotherham
Everton should be home and dry by now.
Striker Oumar Niasse shows excellent footwork to carve open an opportunity, but no team-mate is on hand to grab the second goal from inside the six yard box.

steveedwhittle: The Championship is all that matters, wouldn’t be upset if the Millwall reserves lose tonight
Nicely timed.
Jamie Ness (41 mins)
The breakthrough at The Den.
League One's bottom side Plymouth take the lead through Jamie Ness, who heads home from a corner which was flicked on.
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle
Stephen Warnock
Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live
Newcastle have sat off Forest and not shown any creativity so far. Rafael Benitez will probably be happy to get in with this scoreline at half time and have a strong word with them.
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle
Five minutes left in the first half and the Newcastle players look to the referee for a penalty after striker Yoshinori Muto appears to be clipped by Tendayi Darikwa.
It's clumsy, there is no contact on the ball but Jeremy Simpson waves play on.
D'oh.
Reading 0-0 Watford
Watford twice go close from a corner but neither Adrian Mariappa nor Ben Wilmot can find a way past Sam Walker in the Reading goal.
Still all square.
Millwall 0-0 Plymouth
Millwall midfielder Shaun Williams goes down after a challenge in the box by Gary Sawyer. The New Den bays for a penalty but referee Darren England is unmoved and waves play on.
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle
Sam Byram has had a good game so far for Forest, but comes off worse in a 50-50 challenge and cannot continue.
On comes Tendayi Darikwa in his place.
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Newcastle

Forest have been impressive so far. Darly Murphy’s early goal was smartly taken and there’s been plenty of promise from players like Sam Byram and Joe Lolley.
Their only mistake was before kick off when the young children holding flags in a guard of honour for the players were soaked by one of the errant pitch sprinklers. Hope they’ve dried off.
