That's it from us for this evening. It didn't start so well with the game in Italy, but Liverpool gave us the big finish we were after.

We'll be back tomorrow for Manchester's City and United, Real, Roma and the rest.

    I'll see thee.

Klopp added: "Daniel (Sturridge) played a super game. I have never seen him as fit as he is in the moment. He was everywhere. He helped left and right and he was in the box when he was needed.

"Then you can bring Bobby Firmino on and that helps a lot. I loved his goal celebration."

    Liverpool

Speaking to BT Sport, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: "It was really important we started like we did. We were so strong and good with the ball.

"We changed the system because we expected a change from them. We needed all of our focus and we covered a lot of yards and closed all of the gaps."

  4. 'I can't say enough good things about Bobby'published at 22:25 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Liverpool 3-2 PSG

    Liverpool

Liverpool goalscorer James Milner, speaking to BT Sport: "It is the perfect start for us. Hopefully we can build on that.

"I think it would have been very disappointing not to win. They didn't create too many and we had a number of chances.

"I can't say enough good things about Bobby (Roberto Firmino). To come off the bench after his injury at the weekend is incredible really."

The start, and the fact they went 2-0 up, tells you that Jurgen Klopp got it right tonight. The players know that if you start well the crowd gets up and it makes the atmosphere very difficult for the away side.

The manager also got it right with his substitutions as Roberto Firmino came on and scored the winner of course.

Kaushik: If I were Gareth Southgate I’d park myself in front of James Milner's house and beg him until he agreed to return to the ENG side as captain for the Euros!! He is galaxies ahead of any of England midfielders!

Neill: Milner for MOM yet again, he just gets better every game

Matt: Could Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold please take Mbappe and Neymar out of their pockets and give them back. The PSG coach is leaving soon!

  7. 'We have been waiting for the Champions League to come back'published at 22:19 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Liverpool 3-2 PSG

    Liverpool

Liverpool full-back Andrew Robertson: "This club and the fans have been waiting for the Champions League to come back since May. We got a good start and made it hard for ourselves but there is nothing better than a late goal.

"I felt we controlled it. We lost a goal just before half-time but controlled the second-half before a sloppy pass and they broke on us. That was the only time opened us up.

"At that point we thought a draw would be it but we found a second wind and the chances kept coming.

"We are good at getting in people's faces, especially at home when we know the fans will get behind us. You heard the fans at the end they are a different class."

Bit of a weird one. BT are just showing footage of the Liverpool bench after Firmino's winner, showing Mo Salah slamming his water bottle down.

They'll be some cheeky scamps no doubt trying to suggest he is being a bit too self-involved. I'm reading it as a 'well I never, thank goodness for that' gesture.

How can you be upset at a last-minute winner against one of Europe's best sides?!

    Liverpool

Speaking to BT Sport, Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge said: "It was a great to score and it was a great ball by this man here (Robertson). Him and Trent (Alexander-Arnold) have got a competition going on, so it was good to help him out."

On his long wait for a start in the Champions League: "The last time was for Chelsea when we won it, so it is great to contribute to the team today, but it's early days so we aren't going to get ahead of ourselves. It is a team here and everybody is going to add to the wealth of the club."

You have to give Liverpool plenty of credit for that win, not least of all their drive, determination and sheer audacity to win it when they looked to have chucked it away.

But what was going on with PSG? They've spent an absolute fortune to possess a front three and accompanying midfield the envy of most of Europe. I'm pretty sure they didn't do that just to ensure they had a couple of moments of isolated opportunism through which to try and snatch a point.

Ps. In the below image I can only imagine Klopp is telling Fabinho: "Don't you worry son, next game I'll bring you on with two minutes to go."

David: The result may not make it look like it but Liverpool won that at a canter. PSG play in a league where they bully teams. It was nice seeing their "stars" getting shown up

Ronnie: I find it fantastic watching Liverpool. Don’t support them but love the way they play football, especially in the Champions League. Their matches are always exciting!

Aaron: Money can buy you talent but it can't buy you determination, grit and spirit. PSG's front three had none of it, Liverpool had it all and the result shows that. Deserved win for Liverpool, UCL beware.

We have just seen quality all over the pitch. Both teams gave everything tonight. Liverpool take a 2-0 lead and you think it is game over, but PSG have too much quality, and they pull it back.

Then Firmino comes off the bench to win it for Liverpool. What a night.

    Phew.

A deserved win for Liverpool, but boy did they milk every last ounce of emotion from their fans.

They had it won, they threw it away and then, thanks to Bobby Firmino, they grabbed the game definitively.

Imagine what he'll start doing with two fully working eyes.

Wow. Anfield has just erupted. What a goal.

The ball comes to Roberto Firmino on the right hand side. Trent Alexander-Arnold drags the defender away with his run and it gives Firmino the opportunity to take the shot, and what a finish.

    Winner!

    Roberto Firmino!

Anything Salah can do, Mbappe can match. It is PSG's young star who gives the ball away following the cleared corner. Ball finds it's way to the substitute and he does the rest with a low drive through bodies and into the net.

    Anfield erupts!
