    Inter Milan 2-1 Tottenham

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Tottenham gave everything. They got themselves in the driving seat but they can't deal with set pieces. Mauro Icardi has been quiet all evening, but one piece of magic changes everything.

Spurs would have taken a draw ahead of tonight, but to lose it the way they did, confidence will be even lower now.

  7. Postpublished at 90+4 mins

    Inter Milan 2-1 Tottenham

There's hardly any time left for Tottenham to fight back. A real sickener. Spurs looked comfortable until the 86th minute and have then conceded two.

    Inter Milan 2-1 Tottenham

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

That was a header back across the goal and it was a simple header into the back of the net. Spurs are a big side so I do not know why they concede so many goals from set pieces. It's about taking responsibility. Tottenham have thrown it away by dropping deeper and deeper and they invited Inter on.

    Matías Vecino

Inter have stolen it at the death. Tottenham fail to win two headers at a corner. The cross comes in and the first header knocks the ball back into the six-yard box and the second comes from Matías Vecino to head the ball in.

    I don't think I've mentioned Vecino's name all night.

Absolute pinball. This is tense for Spurs now. Can they hold on? They clear this time but have another corner to defend.

It's five at the back now for Spurs. Four minutes added on...

Icardi heads into Jan Vertonghen and it goes over. Good defending. Corner.

Dennis: That's what happens when trying to defend one goal leads

Andrew: And to think Icardi didn’t even make Argentina’s World Cup squad in the summer. He’s an absolute finisher of chances, in the ilk of Sergio Aguero.

The San Siro has well and truly come alive now. Either team could win this in the last few minutes. Don't bet against a Spurs goal.

  16. 'Wonderful goal'published at 19:40 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Inter Milan 1-1 Tottenham

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

He hasn’t done anything tonight, but his goal record is phenomenal and that is a wonderful goal. He just arrives in the D and wraps his foot around the ball, and Michel Vorm has no chance. He has had a quiet night but that is a great goal.

  17. goal

GOAL - Inter Milan 1-1 Tottenhampublished at 86 mins

    Mauro Icardi

    Sorry, Tottenham fans. Commentator's curse.

A sensational volley from Mauro Icardi. The Inter Milan striker has hardly had a touch all night but smashes one from 20 yards into the bottom corner. It's incredible technique to hit the cross from the left first time.

It's got competition from Barcelona but that's the goal of the night.

    Inter Milan 0-1 Tottenham

Spurs don't look too panicked. Inter aren't really creating anything and now they give away a free-kick 35 yards from their own goal. If Spurs get there this will be described as a clinical away performance.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 83 mins

    Inter Milan 0-1 Tottenham

Michel Vorm gets a booking for time wasting after Antonio Candreva blazes a shot over. This would be an excellent three points for Spurs.

  20. RED CARD - Samuel Umtiti (Barcelona)published at 19:32 British Summer Time 18 September 2018

    Barcelona 3-0 PSV

No arguments here. Already on a yellow card, Samuel Umtiti body checks Hirving Lozano - completely wiping the Mexican out.

The referee has little option but to show the French Barcelona centre-back a second yellow.
