    Cabbages, cabbages....

Just when you think football can't get more bizarre, it literally throws vegetables into the mix.

Steve Bruce's exit from Villa Park will forever be linked with his brush with fresh produce, but life goes on at the club without him.

Kevin MacDonald once again assumes the caretaker role having last done so when Tim Sherwood was handed his P45 in October 2015.

A trip to the furnace of the New Den and Millwall await and after failing to put fellow strugglers Preston away in midweek, anything less that three points for MacDonald this afternoon could mean rotten tomatoes.

Will it be one game too far for them all come 17:00 BST or will they finally get to bathe in the glory of three points?

So it ends 1-1 at Elland Road in what was at times a pulsating Championship encounter.

The Bees took the lead through Neal Maupay's penalty after Ollie Watkins controversially went down.

But Pontus Jansson's late header means the spoils are shared.

Leeds stay top, but Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and West Brom all have a chance to go top.

Brentford move up to fifth, but their winless run is now six games in all competitions.

    Leeds 0-1 Brentford

With just over 10 minutes to go it's getting more edgy.

Ezgjan Alioski has a few choice words with the Brentford bench after trying to get the ball back after it went out.

The Bees then go up the other end and Neal Maupay wins a foul 30 yards out, but the free kick is well defended.

Maupay's second-half penalty is still the difference.
