Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold: "It is hard to put into words. The season we have had, we deserved it more than any other team. We have done something special, we dominated the game.

"We will not look back and think it was sluggish game, we will see we are European champions.

"I am just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dream has just come true."

Eric Dier leads the Spurs players forwards to get their medals, Liverpool sportingly forming a guard of honour.

They have had another season of over-achievement. Where to now? A full season in their sparkling new home can only mean good things, right?

Spurs didn't do enough, they didn't trouble Alisson in the first half.

In the second half they improved, in fairness they gave it a go, but the better team - the more efficient team - won.

    Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Under Jurgen Klopp Liverpool have been brilliant for four years - they just haven't won a trophy.

They've spent money, but they've spent it so well.

They've ground out results this season but they're a great team to watch and their great fan base deserve this night tonight.

    Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool

    Sean Dyche
Burnley manager on BBC Radio 5 live

The unsung hero for me tonight was Jordan Henderson - he did all the ugly stuff, all the hard yards, he knows he has quality around him but he's the glue that holds it all together.

It's the two semi finals we shall remember from this season. That's a shame - but big finals are rarely the classics we all hope for.

Just a dreadful game of football. The semis showcased the quality of English football, I'm not sure what this showed. I'm sure after the post mortem people will analyse and give a clearer breakdown but as a neutral I just kind of feel deflated.

That was a quite terrible game - actually Spurs were probably the better team of two very poor sides. Liverpool were gifted a quite laughable penalty. Dear oh dear, how do you sell that shambles as a showcase for football?

Both sides know they can play better. Liverpool have found a way to win games this season - and tonight - and overall deservedly so.

  15. 'Spurs should be proud of themselves'published at 22:01 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

Jermaine Jenas on BT Sport: "The Spurs players have done their club proud, the journey they took the club on has never been done before."

Jurgen Klopp conquers Europe. He said when he arrived four years ago that he needed a trophy and now he has the biggest one of all.

Liverpool picked themselves back up again this season, 97 points in the league, they grabbed the bull by the horns in Madrid.
