Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to Sky Sports: "I have to apologise because I didn't want to be disrespectful but I couldn't stop myself. It just happened!

"The game was with unbelievable intensity. Both teams had chances. Both goalkeepers had outstanding performances. In the end it was a very weird goal. I can't imagine the disappointment of Everton. But we got it and we will take it. It is a brilliant night.

"If I could describe it [how he feels] then I would have control over it. We don't want to look for excuses but that's how it is. I'm not sure what the FA has to do in a situation like this but I will have to wait.

"The plan was not to run [onto the pitch to celebrate]! When I chose to stop I was close to Alisson. He was surprised! It was the last situation of the game. Both teams delivered an unbelievable fight. Both teams tried really to play football. No harsh things. The game was really good.

"We tried to control the game they had good counter-attacks. We tried to go in behind but we didn't play exactly like that, that often. We had our moments and had brilliant chances. Our counter-press was really good and we stayed in the game until the end."

I think it's absolutely shocking, what Jurgen Klopp does. Ok, go down the touchline a little bit, come out of your technical area, celebrate with your staff on the bench - I don't have a problem with that at all.

But to run into the middle of the pitch, I think it's disrespectful to Everton.

Yes, it's a derby, it's a big game, but you cannot run into the middle of the pitch to celebrate with your players. Last minute or not, it doesn't make any difference.

Jeester: Look, fair play to Liverpool, what a finish. All I'm gonna say is Jose got tons of grief for walking onto the pitch after a game and celebrating. Klopp runs onto the pitch before the end of the game, and he's getting praise heaped onto him. Just saying.

I've just seen the winning goal again. I can't recall a weirder goal to settle a big game in a long time. Credit to Divock Origi on two fronts though. First, for staying onside and following in Virgil van Dijk's shank when nobody else did. And second, for not jumping into Jordan Pickford and fouling the keeper.

Liverpool substitute Divock Origi, speaking to Sky Sports, on what scoring the winner in a Merseyside derby means: "It's a special moment, I'm enjoying it. It is a special one for the club and the city.

"It was just instinct. I tried to be sharp and in the end Virgil (van Dijk) gave a nice assist!

On whether he thought his Anfield future was over after going to Wolfsburg on loan last season: "I think I believed in myself but it wasn't easy. I tried to enjoy the game and came in and tried to help the team. Happy to do that today."

On the title race: “We don’t need to look at Manchester City. They are doing an amazing job but we must look at ourselves. We have to keep going and keep progressing as a team. We are on the right track. The next game is against Burnley so we need to win that.

“We don’t want to look too far ahead. We need to take it game by game. Today was very tough but very sweet. We are very happy. We had some big chances but in the end it doesn’t matter. We won!”

I would like to think that Jurgen Klopp will get into trouble for that.

If that's other managers that do that - and we know one in particular - he'd get absolutely slaughtered.

That's not right. Everton fans can't be happy with that. But Marco Silva, fabulous dignity I think.

Divock Origi's last Liverpool goal was in a 4-0 win at West Ham in May 2017, before they had even signed Mo Salah. He has come in from the wilderness today.

He's also scored in all three of his home league appearances against Everton.

Liverpool have scored more 90th minute winners against Everton than any side has against another in Premier League history.

The ball was going over and out. If Jordan Pickford doesn't touch the ball it hits the crossbar and goes out. He got both palms on it, touched it onto the crossbar and then Divock Origi puts it in.
