    Cardiff 0-0 Southampton

Another golden Cardiff chance. Saints defender Jan Bednarek wants time to take down a long ball, too long, and gets his pocket picked by Josh Murphy.

Murphy surges clear, tries to step-over his way past Alex McCarthy, but the Saints keeper reads him and gathers the ball. Excellent goalkeeping.

    Cardiff 0-0 Southampton

Aron Gunnarsson grabs hold of his Rory Delap-style towel - and that means only one thing. Didn't Delap get told off for using towels??

Anyway... Saints will have gone through plenty of heading drills this week and it pays off again as Jan Bednarek thumps one clear.

Cardiff have done most of the pressing, but Saints holding on...

    Man Utd 1-0 Fulham

Diogo Dalot, the United right-back, has been very lively. Lots of legs up and down the flank, a willingness to take players on and a keenness to get the ball into the mixer. Final pass not up to much, but if he gets that sorted he could be a real asset this afternoon.

    Arsenal 0-0 Huddersfield

Huddersfield, in their fluorescent yellow/green away kit, look like a team of lollipop men. And, aptly, they've managed to stop the Arsenal traffic. A good spell of possession for the visitors comes to nothing, however.

    Man Utd 1-0 Fulham

It has been a bright start from Man Utd. They've got the early goal and have been well on top in terms of possession.

    Burnley 0-0 Brighton

Not a lot happening here. Brighton, in yellow, are seeing a lot of the ball, but it's mostly contained to the middle third of the field. Is it too early to call it as a 0-0?

    West Ham 0-1 Crystal Palace

West Ham's first chance to equalise. A deflected cross falls into the path of Lucas Perez, who volleys with his left foot, but wide of the far post.

  8. Postpublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Arsenal 0-0 Huddersfield

When the game gets back up and running, Arsenal create their best opening. Lucas Torreira slices open the away defence with a carving knife of a pass, Hector Bellerin just not quite being quick enough to beat Jonas Lossl to it.

  9. Postpublished at 15:18 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Arsenal 0-0 Huddersfield

A long delay as Huddersfield midfielder Jonathan Hogg goes down in a heap. Looks like Matteo Guendouzi has accidentally trod on his wrist.

  10. 'Fulham's major problem'published at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Manchester United 1-0 Fulham

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on Final Score

It's a major problem for Fulham. To be defensively sound will be Claudio Ranieri's biggest challenge if they are to stay up.

  11. Postpublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Man Utd 1-0 Fulham

With that, Fulham continue their run of being the only team in England'd top four leagues not to have kept a clean sheet this season. We're gonna score one more than you....

  12. Postpublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Cardiff 0-0 Southampton

Cardiff look the likeliest to open the scoring in south Wales. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing makes Usain Bolt look slow as he tears away from the Saints defence when Matt Targett sloppily loses position.

But the Cardiff forward dallies slightly, allowing Jan Bednarek to slide across and concede a corner...

  13. 'What a great strike'published at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Manchester United 1-0 Fulham

    Mark Lawrenson
Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Denis Odoi had dealt with the Manchester United attacks down United’s left but it was a nutmeg this time from Ashley Young. What a great strike, hit flat and quick, giving the goalkeeper no chance whatsoever.

    Ashley Young

    Now this is a belter.

Manchester United lead thanks to a sweet strike from Ashley Young. Playing at left-back, he jinks his was into the box from a wide position, cuts inside and unleashes a wonderful right-footed strike into the far corner.

The sort of thing you get from a bloke who used to play on the wing or up top.

    Arsenal 0-0 Huddersfield

Not much to report from the Emirates. Quieter than a swimwear shop in early December.

Huddersfield left wing-back Chris Lowe hits a speculative effort that ends up closer to the assistant referee than Bernd Leno.

  16. Postpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

The home fans are singing the Christmassy Eric Cantona song. You know the one, to the tune of the 12 Days of Christmas. England cricket fans once did the same song to Monty Panesar. Fulham corner, deep to Aleksandar Mitrovic, but too much for him to make anything of it.

  17. Postpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    Cardiff 0-0 Southampton

Harry Arter is the main protagonist in this tale so far.

The Cardiff midfielder pops up in space in the Saints box after Nathaniel Mendez-Laing gets a cross back into the danger-zone with a Daniel LaRusso-style back-kick.

The home side on the front foot...

  18. 'Bad defending'published at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2018

    West Ham 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Dion Dublin
Ex-Manchester United striker on Final Score

We first thought he looked a yard offside but, having seen it again, Declan Rice had dropped about two-yards further back than his other defenders.

    It's unfortunate, but bad defending.

    James McArthur

    Coupon buster!

Crystal Palace lead in the London derby. It's a set-piece and pretty sloppy from West Ham. Free-kick from the left, nodded on, all while the Hammers sleep. James McArthur is quickest to react, beating a timid Lukasz Fabianski to poke home.

    Cardiff 0-0 Southampton

Ooof! Harry Arter looks like he's just been caught by Anthony Joshua's right hand. Claret is spilling out of the Cardiff midfielder's nose after an accidental clash with a Saints player. The sort of spillage which you need about half a roll of toilet paper to stop.

Saints free-kick about 30 yards out on the right... Jannik Vestergaard rises highest but heads over the Cardiff bar.
