A through-ball by Demarai Gray causes problems for Cardiff and Greg Cunningham tries to pass it back to his keeper. But Cardiff's Neil Etheridge can't handle it and almost lets it run inside his right post. That would have been one of the strangest own goals ever...

Leicester have dealt with the first long throw of the afternoon by Cardiff's Aron Gunnarsson. It's a good start from the visitors.

James Maddison has just clattered straight into the ref. Poor Simon Hooper has muddy shorts now. A few 'wahaaaays' from the crowd and a sly giggle from Maddison. Cheeky!

Son Heung min's long-ranger from distance from the set-piece is blocked.

So far the Fulham defence have been struggling. I was at the West Ham game before Christmas, where West Ham won convincingly.

Fulham had enough defenders on the team sheet, but in terms of defending as a unit and players taking responsibility, they were really poor. Claudio Ranieri has his work cut out keeping more clean sheets.

Cardiff were the opposition in Leicester's first game in the aftermath of death of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, with the Welsh side staging lengthy and heartfelt tributes to the Foxes' former owner.

The tannoy announcer at the King Power Stadium has just thanked the travelling fans.

"I'd like to welcome the Cardiff City fans to the King Power Stadium. I would like to say on behalf of our football club, I want to thank you for your help and support when we came to Cardiff over an extremely difficult time. Thank you!

"As we move into 2019 we have the spirit of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha behind us, and we can continue to grow in the new year."

This is a huge game and the players will know that. It’s a must-win game, both teams have to go away with something.

Huddersfield have lacked that ruthlessness in front of goal this season. Fulham have improved under Ranieri, but they’re still not the team they were last season.

They had all these players coming in at the start of the season and they haven't gelled.

After failing to win their first 10 league games, Newcastle's victory against Watford at St James' Park sparked a run that has given them a fighting chance of staying up.

But despite being five points clear of the relegation zone midway through the season, Rafael Benitez has reiterated his view that it will still take a miracle for them to avoid the drop.

Benitez's future remains unclear, external but one thing is for certain - with games against Manchester United and Chelsea up next, completing a league double against the Hornets will go a long way to creating some positivity going into 2019 for Magpies fans.

Tottenham have scored at least five goals in their past two outings and Son Heung-min has got two goals in both matches.

He could become the first Spurs player since Dele Alli in January 2017 to score three consecutive doubles when Pochettino's men face Wolves this afternoon.

  15. 'Son the perfect player to work with'published at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Tottenham v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

    Pat Nevin

Son Heung-min is a one-in-two man in front of goal, which is serious. Is he a centre forward? An attacking midfielder? A winger? He's all those things, he can adapt. Harry Kane can do that too where he plays deeper and it is a great thing, adaptability is massive.

I personally love Son and Korean players. Their attitude is perfect, work-rate great. It goes way back to when I watched them at the 2002 World Cup in South Korea.

Son is two footed which is a nightmare for defenders. If he's left out, his attitude will be perfect. I also hadn't realised how quick he is. He is lightning. It is hard to find a weakness. The perfect player to work with.

Mauricio Pochettino says his Tottenham team are title 'intruders' not 'contenders', but there's no escaping their run and best points tally at the halfway stage of a Premier League season. It's a sign of the standard that they are still six points from the summit.

There's real momentum within the club at the moment as they look to build on the 11 goals scored in their last two games alone.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has promised his team's approach won't change. Their half-term report is a positive one with three wins on the road already. Spurs will also remember being pushed all the way in the corresponding fixture at Molineux.
