  1. No word from Dempsterpublished at 13:14 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    St Mirren v Hibernian (13:30)

Well, that's a pretty emphatic 'no thanks' from Eddie May, ruling himself out of the running if Hibs need to find a replacement for Neil Lennon.

Chief executive Leeann Dempster has politely declined an interview on the topic.

"Because of the situation, there will be no statement from Hibs today," explains BBC reporter Chick Young, who approached Dempster for comment. "She's unable to say anything in public."

  2. 'It's been different over the last couple of days'published at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    St Mirren v Hibernian (13:30)

Hibernian head of academy Eddie May, who will take charge of the first team today, said: "It's been different over the last couple of days, but we are only here to focus on the football.

"It's between people that have got nothing to do with me. Myself, Grant and Alan (Combe) have been asked to take the team, which we have done, and we will try to the best of our ability to get a positive result.

"Football players are football players, they get paid to play. What has happened has happened and it's not for me to comment or for anyone else."

Asked if it was an opportunity for him to get the job permanently, May added: "No. Never.

"I've done it before and would never, ever do it again on a full-time basis.

"I think being a manager is really difficult and challenging and it takes a certain breed of person to do that week in, week out, and that's not me."

  3. Buddies much-changed from December drawpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    St Mirren v Hibernian (13:30)

Hibs won in Paisley back in September, with David Gray scoring the only goal, while the points were shared at Easter Road in early December as the Edinburgh side twice came back to level.

Adam Hammill - who has since moved on to Scunthorpe - opened the scoring that night with an incredible shot from inside his own half.

However, the hosts have made so many changes since then, with only four players starting today from the line-up at Easter Road.

  4. 'Livi need to stick to game plan'published at 13:02 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    Livingston v Rangers (16:00)

Reflecting on Livingston's shock 1-0 win over Rangers earlier in the season, manager Gary Holt said on Friday: "It's something to give the players confidence.

"Don't get me wrong, it wasn't an easy game, we didn't dominate. There were spells we weren't comfortable, there were spells Rangers had a lot of possession, but we got the goal and had other chances. We limited them to few chances.

"So we need to get back to that. If we think we can go toe to toe and outclass Rangers and be more skilful than them, it's not going to happen. We need to stick to our game plan and how we play."

  5. Gerrard looks for Rangers' reactionpublished at 12:58 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    Livingston v Rangers (16:00)

Livingston have lost just twice on their own plastic patch this season - to St Johnstone and Aberdeen, while Rangers have been a bit wobbly on the road, picking up four wins from 11 away days in the league.

Rangers looked like improving that record on Wednesday after a strong start at Rugby Park, only for Killie to come from behind to take the three points.

"We do certainly need to improve in terms of being more consistent," said Rangers manager Steven Gerrard on Friday. "I've got confidence the team is capable of going anywhere and getting the right result. But the players have to go prove themselves.

"What is important is that we react to the Kilmarnock game by getting back to winning ways with a good performance."

  6. St Mirren cast the net wide for new recruitspublished at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    St Mirren v Hibernian (13:30)

If St Mirren looked like a team of strangers during Wednesday's 4-0 loss to Celtic, that's understandable since manager Oran Kearney has been frantically reshaping his squad this month.

A host of summer signings made by predecessor Alan Stubbs have been shipped out, with replacements being sourced from all across Europe.

A Danish winger via England and a Croatian left-back via Kazakhstan were signed yesterday as the Buddies battle to get off the foot of the table.

A Czech goalie and Romanian centre-half have also been found, along with an Englishman, Scotsman and an Irishman in Greg Tansey, Kyle McAllister and Brad Lyons.

  7. Caretaker team or serious candidates?published at 12:49 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    St Mirren v Hibernian (13:30)

And just who are Eddie May and Grant Murray?

Former Raith Rovers manager Murray made his name as a player with Hearts and has been on the coaching staff at Easter Road since 2015.

May spent four seasons at Hibs before moving on in 1989. He was appointed Falkirk manager in June 2009 but lasted just 27 games. He's been academy coaching manager at Easter Road since 2014.

Could the duo be a viable long-term option if Neil Lennon's days at Hibs are indeed over?

  9. Dreyer debut for Buddies, Gray back for Hibspublished at 12:43 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    St Mirren v Hibernian (15:00)

Danish winger Anders Dreyer, signed on loan from Brighton yesterday, goes straight into the St Mirren line up and Kyle McAllister makes his first start since returning from Derby.

Hibs make a couple of changes from Wednesday's limp defeat at Motherwell, with injured defender Ryan Porteous missing and recent arrival from Serie A Stephane Omeonga dropping to the bench. Captain David Gray is fit to start for the first time since 6 October and Vykintas Slivka is recalled to midfield.

  10. End of the Easter Road for Lennon...published at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2019

    St Mirren v Hibernian (13:30)

So, what's going on with Neil Lennon?

We know he's not going to be in charge of Hibs today, with coaches Eddie May and Grant Murray stepping up to take care of the team.

BBC Scotland has learned that the head coach has been suspended and it is unlikely he will be back.

The club has offered no explanation yet, no word of an internal investigation, just a very brief statement announcing today's roles for May and Murray. Silence too from Lennon, which suggests both parties are taking legal advice.

It would appear that things kicked off at a team meeting on Friday [insert wild rumour here] but I'm not sure the truth will ever out.

The former Celtic and Bolton boss, who is contracted until 2020, joined Hibs in June 2016, steering the club back to the top flight and securing a fourth place finish last term with a club record points tally.
