It's been a pretty poor game but England should be ahead - they've had a number of good chances now.

England have had 58% of the ball so far. The tempo of this game is somewhere between the Umbro Cup and Socceraid. Could easily sneak Robbie Williams' best mate into midfield and nobody would notice at the moment.

Close again! Get it out to that man Trent Alexander-Arnold whenever you can. He bends in a brilliant ball, Dele Alli is totally free, bursting in between the defenders but he heads it over.

It's all gone a little bit flat when you consider how close Harry Kane went early on.

There's not been enough urgency from England's play - they aren't playing it through the midfield quick enough. There was a bit of rain overnight so maybe that's made the pitch a bit sticky.

Xherdan Shaqiri is the kid in your school team who was much better than the rest of you.

He is in space outside the area for about 30 seconds but a succession of Swiss team-mates fail to find him. As Edimilson Fernandes then passes to where he was standing seconds before, Shaqiri has a look of resignation painted across his face.

That cross was right on the money from Trent Alexander-Arnold. He is a fantastic crosser of the ball but Raheem Sterling missed it and he might have been offside anyway.

Danny Rose has been shown a yellow card in three of his last four England appearances, after picking up just one in his previous 23.

Opposite full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold puts in a cross for the first time but it's easily cleared.

That's better though, another cross from TAA and Raheem Sterling can't connect! He holds his head in his hands, knows that was a great chance.

Gareth Southgate never normally over-does the technical area theatrics but he was arm-waving and shouting mad about the decision to show Danny Rose a yellow card for his challenge on Kevin Mbabu. The fourth official and the referee's assistant both copped it there.

I tried my best to talk this one up but it's gone very, very sleepy now. Jesse Lingard treads on Granit Xhaka and is booked.

Haris Seferovic gets on a long ball and shoots well over the top. Gareth Southgate is not happy that he was allowed to meet that and is off the bench to make his protests known.
