Pol Devid: Not to watch but to compete - I travelled from Moscow to York to lose in the second round of a minor darts competition. Not one of my better ideas.
A fair point Richard - but these two could have gone home after the semis, surely.

Richard Matthews: Nations League was created to replace pointless friendlies and it works for the most part. Without it we would have many more of your 'pointless matches'. The reality is every Nations League game is a friendly against a team on our level - just with more meaning.

England have scored each of the last 21 penalties they have taken in competitive international matches - the last player to fail to score was David Beckham at Euro 2004.

Tom McQuillin: The last time Fabian Delph played a football game was the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals... but now he's started twice for England? Maddison must be fuming.
Ross: Why didn’t we see this team start vs Holland? The only person is missing from our strongest line up is Henderson.

Switzerland have lost five of their last 10 matches (W4 D1 L5) having lost just one of their previous 25 games (W17 D7 L1).

Francis Johnstone: A pre-season friendly between Martin O'Neill's Celtic and Jose Mourinho's Porto, both their first matches in charge, oh yes, it was at Stade Charlety in Paris!
A strong start!

Two changes from that team beaten by Cristiano Ronaldo. In come Nico Elvedi and Edimilson Fernandes for Steven Zuber and Denis Zakaria.

Portugal 3-1 Switzerland
The Swiss were well in the game thanks to some assistance from VAR, but ultimately that man Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and smashed yet another hat-trick didn't he?
Annoying for the lads in white.

That tweet isn't displaying all that clearly so here's the England XI:
Pickford: Alexander-Arnold, Maguire, Gomez, Rose; Dier, Delph, Alli; Sterling, Kane, Lingard

I'm very keen to hear about the most pointless game of football you've ever travelled to see today. Particularly if it's involved massive amounts of distance!

Will John Stones start? We should have team news soon.
Switzerland v England (14:00 BST)
John Stones was at fault for at least one of the two goals that England conceded in extra time against the Netherlands the other night, but his Manchester City team-mate Kevin de Bruyne offered an interesting - and probably absolutely fair - take during his Belgium news conference.
"Everybody knows what John’s strengths are but obviously he can’t do it by himself he needs the help there," De Bruyne said.
"That’s what happened I think with the third goal this ball that he gave to Ross Barkley, with us it would be fine. That ball would probably go to Fernandinho, Gundogan or the keeper and we would play it out from the back. It’s something we are used to. We trained that way for three years."

England's defence has looked vulnerable against high-class opponents in the past and they made a massive contribution to their own downfall against the Netherlands.
John Stones was the main culprit but Harry Maguire and Kyle Walker were also desperately poor and their places must be questioned if this sloppiness continues.
Stones is renowned as a ball-playing centre-half, the sort his club manager Pep Guardiola loves. Yet the Manchester City boss preferred Vincent Kompany alongside Aymeric Laporte to close out the Premier League title win.
It was easy to see why City's boss turned to the Belgian's reliability because Stones was an accident waiting to happen all night, eventually paying the price when he was robbed attempting a 'Cruyff turn' in his penalty area - an error that led to Kyle Walker's own goal.

Gareth Southgate, however, insists that even though many may feel this play-off is now an unwanted fixture at the end of a gruelling 12 months for his squad, England will not be taking the game lightly.
"No England international is a practice match. Every time you wear the shirt there is importance for you, the country and the supporters," said Southgate.
"Individuals have opportunities to impress to make sure their performances keep them involved in the squad.
"We want to finish the season on a good note with a healthy performance. A lot of aspects of our game the other night were very good."
Switzerland v England (14:00 BST)
I have seen some pointless games of football in my time - but this may be right up there.
The Nations League has been broadly a good thing, I think we can all agree. But I'm not convinced that we needed a third/fourth placed play-off between the two losing semi-finalists.
Anyway, to coin a key sporting phrase, it is what it is.
England face Switzerland. You're more than welcome.
