  1. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Norwich

Some early nerves from Ben Godfrey as he panics a bit under pressure from Mo Salah and knocks the ball behind for a Liverpool corner. Trent Alexander-Arnold's delivery doesn't beat the first man though and Norwich can breathe easy.

  2. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Norwich

Andy Robertson wins an early header and Divock Origi looks to get away down the left. The forward holds the ball up and then knocks it forward for the run of Robertson... except Robertson's not there and the ball trickles out of play.

A bit of early season rustiness in the communication there.

The man on the public address system at Anfield reads out Norwich City's team and then roars: And this is how the Champions of Europe line-up.

It's fair to say the Kop absolutely loved that.

The players are lined up in the tunnel ready to go out. Alisson gives one of the mascots a high five and another a little wave and a thumbs up. Both their faces light up, lovely to see.

There's a really good atmosphere inside the ground. Can't wait for this one.

Are Norwich going to sit deep or say 'well, we might as well go after them'? Why not come here and be fearless? Why not go after Liverpool, be exciting and try to take the game to them. If they give Pukki an opportunity it may be that one chance he needs to score.

When I watched Norwich last season the big thing they had over other teams was they scored so many goals in the last 20 minutes. Now can they do that in the Premier League? Can they hold themselves in games long enough to give themselves a chance of nicking a late winner or a late draw?

This is a big night for Joe Gomez. The defender has played just 14 minutes of Premier League action in this calendar year but gets the nod ahead of Joel Matip.

Gomez appears to be fully recovered from the leg fracture which has limited his appearances, and this game will be a big test as he makes his first start since 5 December.

Will he flourish alongside Virgil van Dijk? He certainly looks sharp in the warm-up.

I'm a bit surprised Joel Matip's not included. I thought he was superb against Manchester City. The game changed a bit when he came on and I thought Trent Alexander-Arnold struggled with that diagonal ball over his shoulder. Once Joe Gomez was put into that position he looked a bit more solid defensively but the big thing about Trent is his delivery and his ability to go forward. No surprise with Divock Origi coming in on the left up top though.

Thirty minutes until kick-off and the rain has gone. It's a blustery early evening on Merseyside and a strong wind swirls around Anfield as Jordan Henderson leads Liverpool's players out for the warm-up. The Kop responds with a roar.

Norwich fans have travelled in numbers and the Premier League new boys will not be short of support once the game gets under way.

Their team has come a long way in a short space of time after finishing 14th in the Championship in 2017-18.
