Danny Cheng: Eriksen, please don't leave Spurs. Tanguy and Harry may get all the headlines, but you've been the game changer, always have been!

Geraint Jones: Mr Levy, DO NOT sell Eriksen. End of message.

Steve Huish: Spurs should break the bank to keep Eriksen. Came on and totally changed the game.

Kane at his best there for the third. He has just used the defender as a decoy and beautifully curled the ball into the back of the net. Whether it's Champions League or the top of the Premier League they are fighting for, you need competition for places and you have that at Spurs. Top teams have that. They give the manager healthy selection problems and that's what you need to win trophies.

Josh Earl: Harry Kane doing what Harry Kane does, again. Truly brilliant finish for Kane's 2nd goal, made it look incredibly easy.

Lillie O'Neill: who needs a backup striker when we have Kane.

Anthony: That’s why I love Harry Kane, he makes things look so easy, you’d always back him in those positions... WORLD CLASS.

JChesterUnited: Spurs incredibly lucky, foul in the build up and a series of huge deflections giving Kane a tap in.

    Game over.

Wonderful finish from Harry Kane, sliding a low effort past a diving Tom Heaton in the Villa goal from the edge of the box.

    What August curse?

Villa are looking stretched and bit shell-shocked now.

Lucas Moura strides forward and winds up a right-footed effort, but that's high and wide.

It's been coming. Spurs have been mighty impressive in this second half. It broke to Kane's feet and he was not going to miss that chance. He will be relieved. You can see in his celebrations and the fans celebrations what that goal meant to him. He has certainly not had the game of his life but that won't matter if he has scored the winner.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 88 mins

It wouldn't be an Erik Lamela performance without a yellow card, and he gets one as he trots off slowly to be replaced by Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.

Not sure the Argentine is too bothered...

    Harry Kane. Who else?!

The Tottenham striker gets lucky after the ball ricochets off Tyrone Mings and then Bjorn Engels into his path from Erik Lamela's strike, but there was nothing lucky about the finish.

Kane lashes it beyond Tom Heaton left-footed and surely wraps up the three points for Spurs.

    Heartbreaking for Villa.

Another corner, another headed away by Tyrone Mings.

He's met almost everything today. Immense.

Aston Villa have almost everyone behind the ball, this would still be a great point for the newly promoted visitors. They get a breather after Danny Rose commits a foul in the corner.

Another corner for Tottenham, their 13th of the day. Tyrone Mings, of course, flicks away.

But Villa can't clear properly and its fed back into the area towards Toby Alderweireld, who lashes a wayward shot against Jonathan Kodjia's hand.

Spurs want VAR, that's not dissimilar to the Champions League final... no penalty.

It will be Christian Eriksen, the man who has been angling for a move away from the club this summer... about eight players spread across the Villa wall...

Curled over the wall, and a great save from Tom Heaton!

He did so well to get a hand down to that.
