First sight of goal this season for Harry Kane.

He collects the ball 40 yards out, drives forward on to his left foot and lets rip, but that's a long way over Tom Heaton's crossbar.

    Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

Kyle Walker-Peters is proving a threat down Tottenham's right. He wins another corner, but Aston Villa clear and now they can break with two on two.

Jack Grealish saunters into the Spurs half and picks out Trezeguet, who cuts inside into the box and works the space to shoot.

But he cannot generate any power and it's easy for Hugo Lloris. Looking dangerous, the visitors.

John McGinn is having a stormer of a week. Signed a new deal on Thursday, scored the first goal of Aston Villa's Premier League return on Saturday - and now he does well to halt Lucas Moura. Great start for the Scot.

It has just gone a bit scruffy this game, a few challenges going in. It needs calming down.

Tottenham started well until Villa opened the scoring with their first effort on goal since returning to the top flight, and Spurs have found it difficult to breakdown their opponents since.

Chance here though as Kyle Walker-Peters wins a corner. Erik Lamela's delivery clears everyone and is picked up by Danny Rose, who does well to fire in a low delivery from the left only to see it booted clear.

Villa slice through the Tottenham defence again!

John McGinn slides a wonderful pass into the path of Trezeguet, who dummies his way inside and winds up a strike only to see it blocked by some desperately retreating white shirts.

Good chance for the Villa new boy.

Ouchy. Moussa Sissoko needlessly clatters into the back of Jack Grealish on the half way line. On of those "let them know you're there" tackles.

Can't believe I left McGinn on the bench for my fantasy team. Would have been a better pick than Bernardo Silva...

    Daniel, Hertfordshire

Fear not, Daniel. Bernardo didn't come on so McGinn will replace him. Unless you put him as your second or third sub? Please tell me you didn't...

Shouts for a penalty around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Harry Kane goes down under pressure in the box. Nothing given. Wesley then hits the turf for Aston Villa, referee Chris Kavanagh goes over to check he's OK and he's straight back to his feet. Lively.

Tottenham just got caught cold. It was a direct piece of place. McGinn steadied himself and went for it. He had a great season in the Championship and he was really highly thought of. He's starting how he left off. I think the long pass just was not dealt with by Tottenham, that allowed them to break through and McGinn was on it in a flash. Great finish. What will be disappointing for Spurs is that it was Villa's first attacking play.
