What a chance!

Moussa Sissoko, in acres of space at the back post, has time to take a touch and set himself on the edge of the six-yard box but the Frenchman drags his effort across goal and off for a throw-in.

Should have buried it.

Quick start from Spurs in the second half. Moussa Sissoko gallops on to Kyle Walker-Peters' pass down the right and wins a corner. But Erik Lamela's delivery is headed clear.

Chance for Erik Lamela after a scramble in the Villa box, but Bjorn Engels does superbly well to get out and block the Argentine's strike. Moussa Sissoko was causing problems in the Villa area there and the visitors struggled to clear properly.

I think the general sense of feeling by Tottenham fans will be frustration. They had some good moments and certainly at the end of that half there were some half chances being created by the hosts. But give Aston their credit, they have taken advantage and scored from it. They have had some good chances themselves. Dean Smith will be well happy with that performance for their first game back at this level.

Kyle Walker-Peters cuts it back for record signing Tanguy Ndombele, who curls a delicate chip into the area and Harry Kane is there to meet it.

You'd fancy the England striker to at least trouble Tom Heaton from there, but he nods over.

Kane with a glorious chance again moments later, scuffed wide with his left foot... his blushes are spared by the offside flag.

Great tackle from Harry Winks, sliding across the turf to dispossess Trezeguet on the halfway line. If he mistimed that, Villa were in. It came from another Spurs corner being easily cleared.

Villa are looking a threat on the break, they're good for their lead.

It has been a little while since Villa have been at this level and I think you will see it in some of the players. The concentration might slip and they might tire if this pressure is kept up by Tottenham. I think Spurs have already found with that opening goal that the more they commit the more they are opening themselves up. Villa will be believing they can get another chance before half time.
