Little doubt of the outcome either...

A slight delay won't faze Marcus Rashford. Remember Paris? Of course you do.

That familiar stuttered run up followed by a confident penalty whacked into the top left corner. Quality.

    Well, well, well.

    Rash. Clumsy. Daft. All three.

Kurt Zouma takes out Marcus Rashford. A quick VAR check but little doubt...

The locals/football tourists are getting restless already. A cross from the left failing to find a red shirt and a chorus of groans rain down.

Plenty of room for Cesar Azpilicueta to tram forward on that right flank. Marcus Rashford not tracking back with the Chelsea captain...

"Suuuu-per, super Frank, super Fran-kie Lampard!"

The away end burst into their first audible rendition of a familiar tune, buoyed by their team's smart start at Old Trafford.

Chelsea look sharper in these opening stages, winning the ball again in midfield and setting Mason Mount haring forward.

The England Under-21 international lets fly from outside the box, a swerving, dipping effort gathered by United skipper David de Gea.

It's been a really good start from Chelsea, they have been excellent. Going down the right, they are looking really strong. I think Frank Lampard will be really delighted. They have posed a threat and asked a question already.

Another chance for Chelsea! Mason Mount's run causes Luke Shaw to drift inside and allow Cesar Azpilicueta the space to storm forward on the right.

The Spaniard drills in a low cross which evades a blue shirt to the relief of the Stretford End.

Tammy Abraham's only other Premier League away game for Chelsea came in May 2016 - at Liverpool.

The 21-year-old couldn't have had two more difficult places to make his top flight introduction.

That was a fantastic shot that came bouncing back off the post.

    Chelsea have settled quickly.

Here's Martial's first opportunity to prove he is worthy of starting in a more central position - and that coveted number nine shirt - as Kurt Zouma inexplicably plays a stray ball across his box to this France team-mate.

Martial's eyes light up, but a tame effort is hoovered up by the hands of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Anthony Martial up top for Manchester United by the way, Marcus Rashford on the left. Thoughts?

Abraham has proved he can cut it in the Champo, now he has been given a chance to do it in the Premier League thanks to Chelsea's transfer ban.

Much sharper than the United defence there to pick up a loose ball.

    Man Utd 0-0 Chelsea

Oooof! Chelsea's new number nine Tammy Abraham rattles United - and the post - with a zinger of a 20-yard strike.

Almost the dream start for Frank Lampard, who punches the air in frustration.

Jeester101:This is going to be a really interesting match. For the first time in years, there's nobody in that Chelsea team who really worries me as a united fan. Just need to see how this midfield holds up!

Glad to see McTominay picked over Matic and Tuanzebe ahead of Smalling & Jones. Too often at Man Utd, of late, failure was rewarded with another chance. It's time some fresh blood were given their shot.

Chelsea left-back Emerson is keen to make a sharp start, bursting down the left to test out Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

And that's why United have paid £50m. Great positioning helps him nick the ball back off Emerson, cheekily trapping the ball before dinking it past the Brazilian.

    Cheers from the home fans.

VAR is not the only thing making its Premier League debut at Old Trafford today.

Manchester United have also relocated fans to a section on the right side of the Stretford End, with the attention of improving the atmosphere.

They don't like it being called the singing section. But that is what the fans in there are doing.

Plenty of noise from the travelling Chelsea fans as well.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shares a warm hug with one of the club's star men in recent season. That's the Fred the Red.

The Norwegian has another embrace with Chelsea counterpart Frank Lampard, who I'd imagine is getting a few pelters as wanders along the touchline.

Suit and open neck shirt for Frankie, in case you're wondering. West End boy.

Former Manchester City and England defender Micah Richards on Man Utd's transfer activity: "I think they've done well but I think they'd have liked a few more. They've broguth in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who did really well at Palace last season, and Harry Maguire, who's a wall of a man.

"The difficult for him is that everyone's going to compare him to the Van Dijk fee. He's gone for a lot of money but we can't judge him yet. We've got to give him a year, 18 months, let him settle in and get used to his new surroundings and then judge him then. But, for now, he's probably the pick of the bunch for England so I'm looking forward to seeing how he does."
