Rangers 2-0 St Joseph's (6-0)
Rangers 2-0 St Joseph's (6-0)
Rangers start the second half on the front foot, with Alfredo Morelos, who scored just before the break, seeing his goal-bound header ricocheting off team-mate George Edmundson and behind the St Joseph's goal.
Ryan Wignall
This wasn't in the script for Angelo Alessio. Despite claims to the contrary, our man at Rugby Park says it was the unmarked Ryan Wignall who finds the back of the net to silence the 9,000 home support at Rugby Park.
As things stand, Killie are through on away goals, but dearie me, we are in for a thrilling last 35 minutes.
HT: Kilmarnock 0-0 Connah's Quay (2-1)
BBC Scotland's Thomas Duncan has given up the ghost trying to get a half-time Killie Pie from the feeding frenzy that is the Rugby Park half-time media buffet. Instead, he's bringing us this update:
If Kilmarnock can remain patient and be more clinical in front of goal they should win this comfortably. Their wide men are tearing Nomads to shreds down both flanks. Greg Taylor, Stephen O'Donnell, Chris Burke and Rory McKenzie have all been excellent and had chances. The best of the half though fell to Nomads' Callum Morris. How he failed to find the net from six yards in acres of space, we will never know. The visitors need to score two to go through remember, so they'll have to come out firing after the break.

Quote MessageNomads should've been ahead early on, without a shadow of a doubt. Gary Dicker gave away a slack ball, and I was expecting the net to bulge. Jamie MacDonald had given up the ghost. But from then on Kilmarnock had a number of chances. Stephen O'Donnell has been different class, he's a real powerhouse. Kilmarnock have forced Brass into a number of excellent saves. The icing on the cake would be to just get that goal.

Alfredo Morelos opens his Ibrox account this season to make it two on the night for Rangers.

Quote MessageKilmarnock won't want complacency to come into this game. Nomads will be delighted if they get into the half at 0-0. The longer the game goes on, the more hope they'll have. Kilmarnock will want to be more patient on the ball and not give the ball away so easily.
Alfredo Morelos
Rangers double their lead in first-half stoppage time, and it's a really well-worked corner that gets Steven Gerrard's men their second goal.
Jake Hastie fires in a low delivery to the front post, where the ball is beautifully flicked on by Connor Goldson. It loops high towards the back post, and thundering in to meet it is Alfredo Morelos.
That's the Colombian's second goal of the tie. And it comes just a few minutes after a typically dynamic show of Morelos power carved out a chance for Hastie, who screwed wide from close range.
Rangers 1-0 St Joseph's (5-0)
Cork City have beaten Progres Niederkorn but the side from Luxembourg have gone through 3-2 on aggregate.
That means Rangers will be reunited with them two years on after that game, providing St Joseph's don't do something silly. #Pedro
Kilmarnock 0-0 Connah's Quay (2-1)
Connah's Quay manager Andy Morrison may not look it in this picture of utter frustration and rage (either that or he's just stepped on a bit of Lego) but he must be happy with how his team are doing at Rugby Park as we creep towards half-time.
Rangers 1-0 St Joseph's (5-0)
Greg Docherty gets chopped down on the edge of the box, a few yards right of centre.
Up steps Andy Halliday, but his bending effort whistles just wide of the far post. Rangers remain very much on top but are not creating the chances of the first 15 minutes.
Kilmarnock 0-0 Connah's Quay
Some tremendous play takes Kilmarnock even closer to an opener. The ball falls to Stephen O'Donnell and the Scotland full-back whacks the post.

Quote MessageKilmarnock have been good in possession and have worked it down the right hand side. It's going to be a game where Kilmarnock will have to be patient as Connah's Quay try and play percentage balls in behind Killie. They just need to be tidy and patient on the ball and I'm sure they can break them down.
Rangers 1-0 St Joseph's (5-0)
First decent foray downfield for St Joseph's, and it culminates in Ernesto Cornejo firing low from just outside the box. His effort is comfortably smothered by Wes Foderingham.
Kilmarnock 0-0 Connah's Quay (2-1)
Around 9,000 are reportedly inside Rugby Park tonight for the first sight of European football since 2001.
