Jon Gallagher for me has been the outstanding player of the season so far. There's been a lot of great performances but consistency and what he's added to this team, he's up there.

Substitute Scott Wright, who had replaced Niall McGinn, fires home Aberdeen's fourth of the night. Pre-match, Derek McInnes had talked about the importance of striking a balance between defence and attack.

Ojo and Ferguson combine to great effect to tee up Wright, who slots the ball home.

The Dons, now 5-1 up on aggregate, have been razor sharp in front of goal against the shell-shocked Georgians.

Sam Cosgrove fancies getting back on the scoresheet, the striker sends a header at goal but it's comfortably saved by an alert Hamzic.

What odds of the bold Sam netting a hat-trick tonight?

That should be that, eh? A debut goal for Greg Leigh whose predatory header is surely enough to see the Dons through this tie and a showdown with Croatian outfit Rijeka.

Chikhura have started the second half really well, putting the opposition under pressure. I'd imagine Derek McInnes did have a word at half time because it looked as though they had sat back too much in the last 10 minutes. Certainly much better in the second half.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 49 mins

Aberdeen think they've got a third goal of the night at Pittodrie but Chikhura goalkeeper Hamzic atones for spilling a Ryan Hedges cross by denying Jon Gallagher before Sam Cosgrove fires wide.

The service tonight has been good for Sam Cosgrove. A couple on a plate from Gallagher and Ferguson. All strikers want to score goals but you don't often get a big target guy that can score goals. Normally they're the ones they feed off. Hopefully it continues. You've got to remember we're not playing the greatest of opposition, let's see how he gets on during the season against the Old Firm, Hearts, Hibs. Season has started great, with confidence and it all looks good for him.

  12. 'Dancing Sam'published at 46 mins

Rangers were competent tonight, they defended a little bit dodgily at times. They had this cushion so maybe the intensity wasn't there tonight. Sheyi Ojo looks a serious player. I know we're judging him against sub-standard opposition but plenty good enough to cause an awful lot of mayhem in the Scottish Premiership, and he's only going to get better.

    HT: Aberdeen 2-0 Chikhura

    John Barnes
    BBC Scotland at Pittodrie

A terrific first half from Aberdeen to put them in the driving seat in this tie. The first half hour, the Dons controlled the game and only in the latter stages of the first period did Chikhura look to threaten. Greg Leigh on his debut at left-back looks tidy and always keen to push forward while another summer recruit, Jon Gallagher, has been busy and creative in supporting the front men from midfield.

    Quote Message

Chikhura want to take control of the game again Aberdeen, they've lost control of the game and are sitting too deep. They're trying to manage it as they've got the two goals and seem happy with that. But watching them in the first 35 minutes or so they were so dominant and I thought that would continue; sure the fans did too.

It looks a real exciting Aberdeen team. Gallagher and Ferguson making great runs, deep runs in behind and causing great problems with Ojo providing them that little bit of protection there.

    Willie Miller

    Quote Message

Aberdeen don't really have to do too much now do they? Although Chikhura have had more possession, are moving the ball about well now, very sharp, looking bright in the last few minutes. But they're going to start leaving themselves more open at the back and Aberdeen are more than capable of taking advantage of that.

  20. HALF-TIME Aberdeen 2-0 Chikhurapublished at 20:32

Derek McInnes will be purring like a Pittodrie cat who's got his cream after that first half. Sam Cosgrove is proving too hot for the Georgians to handle, firing a double to put the Dons 3-1 up on aggregate.
