It's not good build up from Progres it's just daft from Barisic, giving away cheap, silly free kicks like that. They weren't punished, that was the main thing. But if you continue to do that it might just catch you out at some point.

  2. Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangerspublished at 14 mins

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 10 mins

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

Rangers come within a whisker of taking the lead. A lighting counter sees them cut through the Progres midfield and defence but Scott Arfield sees his effort rebound off the post.

Progres keeper Sebastien Flauss, in his best Forrest Gump impression, came galloping off his line to see Arfield's effort trundle through his legs but back off the woodwork.

"Unlucky for Arfield," says BBC Scotland pundit Billy Dodds.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 9 mins

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

First booking of the game as Borna Barisic is booked for an over-zealous challenge wide on the right about 35 yards from goal.

However, Rangers repel the danger from the subsequent free-kick.

  7. Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangerspublished at 7 mins

A second Rangers corner within the opening 10 minutes but once again James Tavernier sees his delivery plucked out of the night sky by Progres keeper Sebastien Flauss.

  8. Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangerspublished at 6 mins

Can that be described as a half-chance? The hosts have their first look at goal but Ferino sends a shot from distance well, well wide.

  9. Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangerspublished at 4 mins

First corner of the game and Rangers skipper James Tavernier, making his 200th club appearance, whips in a dangerous cross but Progres keeper Sebastien Flauss gathers comfortably.

  10. Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangerspublished at 2 mins

Nothing of note to concern either keeper in the summer sunshine. With Rangers two goals to the good from the first leg, Steven Gerrard's side doesn't have to bomb forward in search of an early away goal.

  11. Message will be: 'don't lose opener'published at 18:32

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

    Billy Dodds

    Quote Message

If Rangers lose a goal that pressure comes back on. They have to be careful, keep it nice and tight, don't give anything away, don't give Progres any chances to give them a lift. If they do that I see them being comfortable and creating opportunities throughout the match. I think they'll score but I wouldn't like them to bring that pressure of losing a goal, as the mental strain on you as a team isn't good especially if you're favourites to win the game.

  14. Expecting a 'nice, secure' Rangers performancepublished at 18:25

    Quote Message

It's a strong team, a nice secure 0-0 draw will do but I think Rangers will go on and win this one because for me it's not the same as the last time as the quality of player is better, the pressure is off so I'm expecting a secure Rangers performance with the odd goal.

  15. Should be 'comfortable' for Rangerspublished at 18:23

    Progres Niederkorn v Rangers (18:30)

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland defender on BBC Radio Scotland

    Quote Message

Rangers have got a 2-0 victory going into the second leg which is a great position to be in and I can't see them doing anything other than going through. They can put pressure on themselves by losing the first goal, but surely tonight Rangers have enough to see themselves through. Obviously on the back of Kilmarnock result [Europa League exit] we have got to watch what we're saying in Europe, but this is Rangers and Steven Gerrard has built a strong squad so it should be quite comfortable.

  16. Four changes for Rangerspublished at 18:22

  18. Tavernier content with Rangers' depthpublished at 18:19

    Progres Niederkorn v Rangers (18:30)

Rangers captain James Tavernier is in bullish form ahead of the new Premiership season and his side's tilt at the Europa League.

Holding a 2-0 lead going into the second leg of the Europa League qualifier against Progres Niederkorn, the defender has been waxing lyrical about the Ibrox squad.

"I feel we are a lot better. The only player who you would say is not here is Ryan Kent, who was a great addition last season," he said.

"The gaffer has a lot of selection headaches. The squad's better than last season. I believe in the squad and believe we can do a really good job."

  20. No bid for Morelos - Gerrardpublished at 18:14

    Progres Niederkorn v Rangers (18:30)

Alfredo Morelos fired 30 goals for Rangers last season and the Colombian will be aiming to prove he's worth his weight in gold this term.

Speculation suggested that a £30m contract offer in China was being dangled in front of the striker.

Sky Sports News, external claimed on Wednesday the Colombian had rejected a lucrative deal from Hebei Fortune who were willing to meet his £15m valuation.
