  1. Not exactly 'white hot' but 'cosy enough'published at 19:23 British Summer Time 1 August 2019

They've had a couple of good chances, Scott Arfield was very unlucky actually, and given up a couple of worrying moments down the other end. But it's 2-0, it's meandering towards a very comfortable Rangers progression. It's not exactly intense or white hot in terms of atmosphere or intensity. But it's comfortable.

  2. Hedges harbours Europa League dreampublished at 19:21

    Aberdeen v Chikhura Sachkhere (19:45)

Winger Ryan Hedges says the prospect of European football was a factor in his decision to join Aberdeen.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Dons from Barnsley in the summer, is gunning for a place in the Europa League.

"You look at the history of this club, with Sir Alex Ferguson, and the team 11 years ago getting Bayern Munich in the round of 32," he said.

"There's no reason why this group can't replicate that, get to the group stages and go from there."

Aberdeen have failed to qualify for the group stages of the Uefa Cup - and latterly the Europa League - since the success of 2008.

The Dons host Chikhura following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Georgia.

  3. Rangers have 'demoralised' Progrespublished at 19:20

It's been comfortable. They've kept possession, suffocated Progres a little bit and demoralised them. They were bright from the start and going to have a go, now they look demoralised and not at the races.

  4. HALF-TIME Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangerspublished at 19:17

Comfortable if largely uninspiring stuff from Rangers. Scott Arfield was denied by the woodwork but the visitors have struggled for a creative spark in front of goal.

However, with a two-goal lead, Steven Gerrard's side are cruising into the next round.

  5. Progrespublished at 44 mins

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

Rangers captain James Tavernier clears a dangerous Progres cross inside the six-yard box. The skipper is far from a happy camper but Progres can't profit from the corner and Rangers' two-goal lead remains intact.

  6. Better from 'clinical' Ibrox sidepublished at 19:15

Rangers have kept possession better, Progres are backing off a bit which suits them. But they're not just passing about and getting nowhere, they're being direct and being clinical and getting efforts on goal. It's been really good in the last 15 minutes of the half.

  7. Rangers in controlpublished at 41 mins

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

Four minutes plus any added time remaining of a largely quiet first half in the Stade Josy Barthel.

  8. Rangers seeking sparkpublished at 37 mins

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

Another Rangers attack fizzles out on account of a James Tavernier mistake. A rueful shake of the head by the skipper as Progres earn another reprieve.

  9. Rangers have 'got to grips' with gamepublished at 19:09

The last 10 minutes have been the way Rangers would've wanted the game to go, just that middle spell around the 20 minute mark I thought they were leaving too much space, giving away silly free kicks and inviting pressure and Progres were unlucky. But since they've gotten to grips, they've looked nice and tight, organised and hard to beat. Progres have maybe taken a breather and that suits Rangers who can just pop it about.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 35 mins

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

Progress goalkeeper Sebastien Flauss, who looks like he's listened to Nirvana's entire back catalogue, gets down smartly to thwart a rasping Sheyi Ojo drive.

  11. Lull in Luxembourgpublished at 33 mins

With Rangers in control, the onus is on the hosts to try to find a way back into this tie. As things stand, Steven Gerrard's side are coasting into the next round of Europa League qualifying.

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

Borna Barisic, with a free-kick about 30 yards from goal, blazes a shot high over the bar.

Allan McGregor is comfortable dealing with long range shots, but Progres are finding too much space, defenders not being tight enough. It's worrying how the spaces are developing, giving them options.

  14. Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangerspublished at 25 mins

Twenty minutes remaining of a first half that has yet to spark into life. Rangers have been patient in their attempts to break determined Progres resistance, with Scott Arfield's effort against the post the closest they've come to breaking the deadlock.

  15. Another warning from Progrespublished at 18:55

    Progres Niederkorn 0-0 Rangers

    Quote Message

That was a chance. Karayer gets into the box and if he gets a decent strike away he's going to cause Allan McGregor a lot of problems. Another little warning sign for Rangers as that was a clear chance, just mishit at the end but could've put them in bother.
