Newcastle are the only visiting team to win a league game at the King Power Stadium since Brendan Rodgers took charge, but plenty has changed since that victory for Rafael Benitez's team.

Leicester look stronger after a pre-season under their manager and last weekend's victory over Spurs will add to their belief that they can break into the top six. They have a clear identity and players that genuinely excite.

Suffice to say Newcastle aren't yet close to being included in that bracket after their change of manager in the summer. You can feel Steve Bruce's passion and determination when you speak to him, though his team require more than that at the moment.

These two drew after 90 minutes in the League Cup last month. Newcastle would be much the happier with a repeat scoreline.

Leicester are nice. They have quality, they have money if Brendan Rodgers wants to bring someone else in.

I watched them last weekend against Tottenham, they will be in the top six all day long.

They sold Harry Maguire in the summer for £80m, but did so on their terms. In previous years, teams like Leicester would have been bullied in the transfer market.

They are a good team and have a lot of good players.

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce speaking to Sky Sports: "We don't have anyone natural in the left wing back role available so it gives us the opportunity to go to a flat back four.

"We've done okay defensively this season, it's been the other way that has been a problem. Yoshinori Muto was impressive against Leicester in the cup and I think he deserves his chance - hopefully he can help Joelinton up top.

"For Allan Saint-Maximin it’s an ongoing situation we’ve got to monitor. He’s still not 100% confident.

"And with big Andy Carroll it’s about game time and training without aggravating a very difficult ankle."

  10. 'Soyuncu has grabbed his opportunity'published at 16:14 British Summer Time 29 September 2019

I saw Caglar Soyuncu come into the team a couple of times last season when Harry Maguire was still at Leicester and he did not have the best of times.

The club have seen something in him and sometimes players step up when they know they are going to be number one. He has grabbed his opportunity.

At the minute, he is standing out but he has a manager in Brendan Rodgers who will give him clear instructions about how he wants him to play.

Leicester's five goals conceded this season is a joint-low alongside Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Much of that has been down to centre-back Caglar Soyuncu, who has been a revelation this season.

The Foxes have not missed Harry Maguire and the Turkish defender has stepped in with cool and calm displays thus far.

  12. 'We must be aggressive'published at 16:09 British Summer Time 29 September 2019

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers speaking to Sky Sports about the absent James Maddison: "He's a very good player, an international level player, we're disappointed he isn't playing of course - but we have a very good squad.

"He's back working now and hopefully next week he'll be fine."

On Newcastle, he added: "We played them earlier in the season in the cup so we know today we've got to be better than last time.

"If it's that type of game we will hopefully be better. We must be patient, but really aggressive in our intent in the game."

  15. 'Why did things not kick on?'published at 15:58 British Summer Time 29 September 2019

    Leicester v Newcastle (16:30 BST)

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex- Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Newcastle that I joined was a huge football club, one that had stars in the team and was playing Champions League football. It was aspirational and Sir Bobby Robson was the manager. Why did things not kick on from there?

Fans are thinking, how have we gone from what we were then to what we are now?

It is emotional for supporters because they spend their hard earned money on the football club, travelling and cheering them on.

At the top is a businessman who is not emotive because they work on the maths, if the deal is not right then he will not move.

Ultimately yes. It is disappointing to see the club in this state. All the punters want their club to do well, reach cup finals and finish in the top 10. Just to see where they are at now, they are better than that. They are well supported and a fantastic football club.

No surprise to see Spanish forward Ayoze Perez - Leicester's £30m summer signing - start against his former club.

Brendan Rodgers makes just the one change from the XI that started the last Premier League match - a 2-1 win over Spurs.

Midfielder James Maddison has failed to recover from a damaged ankle and is replaced by Belgium midfielder Dennis Praet, who makes only his second Premier League start since his £18m move from Sampdoria in the summer.

Leicester XI: Schmeichel, Pereira, Evans, Soyuncu, Chilwell, Ndidi, Perez, Tielemans, Praet, Barnes, Vardy.

Subs: Justin, Morgan, Gray, Albrighton, Ward, Iheanacho, Choudhury.

Jonjo Shelvey is not involved in the 18, while Andy Carroll is once again on the bench.

Newcastle XI: Dubravka, Krafth, Lascelles, Schar, Dummett, Longstaff, Hayden, Almiron, Muto, Atsu, Joelinton.
