Newcastle boss Steve Bruce was deep in conversation with Allan Saint-Maxim for several minutes when the Magpies players took a stroll on the King Power pitch... what’s French for “you’re on the bench again son.”

The sort of statistics people keep a record of is quite amazing. Check this one...

Leicester have won just two of their last 18 Premier League matches on Sundays and have lost both of their previous Sunday games with Newcastle (in 1994 and 1997).

    Who even thought of that?

Leicester's big test comes next week when they go to Anfield, but they cannot take anything for granted here.

They will have to work hard to break Newcastle down, and scoring the first goal will be important.

The Magpies are well organised and their best result so far this season came on the road, with their win at Spurs.

I am not expecting Steve Bruce's side to end up a relegation scrap but their form at St James' Park does need to improve.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

  7. Maddison's similarities to Coutinho?published at 15:14 British Summer Time 29 September 2019

James Maddison is a star, it is as simple as that. He is one of those players who has taken a step up to the Premier League and has been delivering.

I am not going to question Brendan Rodgers about how he sees his role in the side because he is getting the best out of him, the team and they are functioning really well.

Already, you see rumours of the big clubs circling because of the quality that he delivers. You have to say fair play to the lad, he has knuckled down, put the hard work in and is obsessed and dedicated in making himself a better player.

For Rodgers to even be mentioning Maddison and Phillipe Coutinho together is a big statement.

Leicester midfielder James Maddison is a doubt after taking a blow to his ankle in the win over Tottenham.

Long-term absentee Matty James is continuing his recovery from Achilles surgery.

Newcastle head coach Steve Bruce has confirmed that injury doubts Andy Carroll, Sean Longstaff, and Allan Saint-Maximin have all been passed fit.

DeAndre Yedlin is also in the squad after five months out following groin surgery.

Maddison in or out? Full team news will be with you at 15:30 BST.
