Justsaying: So how good Are England, really? Two centre backs from teams flirting with relegation. A centre forward who can take good penalties, and? A mish mash of inexperienced midfielders. Not great.

  6. 'Performance was not good enough'published at 21:58 British Summer Time 11 October 2019

    Czech Republic 2-1 England

    England

England manager Gareth Southgate speaking to ITV: "I think we have had a lot of credit over the last couple of years and tonight we did not do enough. Our performance was not good enough, it's as simple as that. The goals we conceded were typical of the chances we gave away.

"Collectively we have to accept there were not enough good performances. We tried to change the shape which was not working, we started the second half much better and we had good chances to win the game.

"We conceded too many poor chances and we gave the ball away too many times. We knew we'd have to be at full tilt to deal with the Czech Republic but we should have been strong enough to deal with them."

  7. 'A wake up call'published at 21:52 British Summer Time 11 October 2019

    Czech Republic 2-1 England

    England

England captain Harry Kane speaking to ITV: "I think it was down to us. It was a perfect start to an away game. We were sloppy with the ball, we didn't move it as quickly as we normally do. The second half was better, we had a couple of chances to put the game to bed and we didn't and unfortunately we gave one away at the end.

"Every away game in Europe is difficult. They had the crowd behind them, sometimes the pitch is not as easy to play, but that's no excuse. It's a bit of a wake up call but we're in a good position.

"There's still stuff to work on for sure. We gave the ball away too cheaply and we'll have to go away and look at it. There's no need to panic and we'll go again on Monday."

  8. What does this mean in Group Apublished at 21:49 British Summer Time 11 October 2019

    Czech Republic 2-1 England

England can still qualify on Monday if they beat Bulgaria and Kosovo do not beat Montenegro.

They need to produce a vastly improved performance, however.

This could be the best thing for England. A wake up call! We usually steam through qualifying and get a false sense of security by the time the tournament arrives. To have to rethink things now could be excellent timing.

    Czech Republic 2-1 England

Just seen a replay of the Czech Republic's second and it truly was awful defending by England, from the panicked playing out from the back, to Jordan Pickford's rushed clearance, to poor positioning by Danny Rose and Harry Maguire. Awful all round.

  11. Long, long wait comes to an endpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 11 October 2019

    Andorra 1-0 Moldova

England lose a qualifier for the first time in 10 years, but at the other end of a scale, Andorra, who have lost all 55 European Qualifiers until tonight, have finally won! They've beaten Moldova 1-0.

    Scenes.

  12. 'No positives'published at 21:39 British Summer Time 11 October 2019

    Czech Republic 2-1 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was very, very, very poor. Not one player played to his ability.

They've been brilliant so far, and they have lost against a team who played well, ran their socks off and stuck to their game plan.

I cant really see a positive tonight for England. Nobody has come off that pitch who you can say has had a good game tonight.

England very poor tonight. No world class central midfielders or defenders. Leads to no leadership, no organisation, no ideas and no trophies.

    Czech Republic 2-1 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

England have been outstanding in the group. This is their first poor performance in a long time.

Tonight, unfortunately, so many players have had an off-day.

They have lacked creativity tonight. But credit to the Czech Republic.
