  1. 'Leicester have a chance for top four'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Liverpool v Leicester (15:00 BST)

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle and England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool have given away far more chances this season than they did last season so that has to give Leicester encouragement.

I am pretty sure there will be goals today but with Liverpool's top three you can only see a Liverpool win.

Leicester are a very good side and they must believe that they have a heck of a chance to get into the top four this season.

  2. 'Harsh to single out Gomez'published at 14:46 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Liverpool v Leicester (15:00 BST)

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

On comments made by fans on Joe Gomez on social media after Liverpool's 4-3 win over Salzburg:

I think it's harsh to single him out. I don't think Virgil van Dijk had a great game and I don't think he was great at Sheffield United either - he seems a little laid back for me at the moment and not getting in where it hurts.

For Gomez coming back, it hasn't helped him, and he's been made a scapegoat in that sense.

His performance wasn't that bad to highlight him - it was across the board and van Dijk next to him was similar.

    Brighton 3-0 Tottenham

    Brighton & Hove Albion

More from Brighton goalscorer Aaron Connolly: "It was a great performance from the start. We have performed well over the weeks but not got the results. It was a brilliant performance and it was great to see it all come together.

"I am not sure it has all sunk in. It’s a dream come through. I love getting goals, I love being able to make my debut. It’s not really sunk in.

On Graham Potter: "He is playing me and trusting me. Straight away, when I came back I knew he was a manager I wanted to play under. His belief in me is great and I am so glad I can repay it."

  5. 'Rodgers will relish Anfield return'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Liverpool v Leicester (15:00 BST)

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live's Friday Football Social

I think Brendan Rodgers will relish it. I think he's supremely confident

No matter how it ended, it's been a while and he's earned his stripes and won a lot of trophies.

He's set up a Leicester team which has a great balance and a good chance.

It is one of the most delightful views from the Burnley press box high up in the main stand...but my it is cold!

Another defeat for Everton today and the heat will be severely cranked up on boss Marco Silva.

With 20 goals conceded in seven matches, bottom of the table Watford have to improve their dreadful defensive record. The Hornets last kept a clean sheet in February - it is 19 league matches since their 1-0 win over Everton at Vicarage Road.

Sheffield United have made a solid start in their first Premier League campaign since relegation in 2007, when Watford also went down.

The Blades are unbeaten away from home so far, and with Billy Sharp available again after suspension will fancy their chances of inflicting another defeat on a Watford side who desperately need a win.

Liverpool v Leicester City (15:00 BST)

    Steve Bower
    Match of the Day commentator

When Brendan Rodgers walked through the door at Liverpool, he arrived at a club that hadn't qualified for the Champions League for five years; he returns to Anfield for the first time to face the European champions after another crazy night under the lights this week.

It will evoke memories of the 2013-14 season when he took the Reds to within a whisker of the Premier League title, and then saw Jurgen Klopp go even closer last season. Can he now stop the leaders from continuing their perfect start to the season?

It will certainly be a barometer of where his exciting Leicester team are at and equally a stern challenge for Liverpool in their quest for a 17th league win in a row.

Once thing is assured - a warm Anfield welcome for Rodgers.

Norwich v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

    Robyn Cowen
    Match of the Day commentator

It's not been the easiest of starts to life back in the Premier League for Norwich or Aston Villa.

Norwich have lost back-to-back away games since that stunning win over Manchester City at Carrow Road. That victory was made all the more impressive by the quite remarkable injury crisis at the club with as many as 10 senior players unavailable.

Aston Villa will aim to take advantage and put right their dreadful away record in the Premier League of 10 consecutive defeats.

    Burnley v Everton (15:00 BST)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

It's been almost five years since Everton lost four consecutive league games - right now they are on three and counting.

Marco Silva's side did put in a much improved performance against Manchester City last Saturday but languishing two points above the relegation zone is not what anyone envisaged when Marco Silva took the reins 16 months ago.

There were plenty of rumours linking them Sean Dyche at the time - but Everton had their heart set on Silva.

Dyche will celebrate seven years at Turf Moor later this month, and only once in that time have Burnley finished in a league position lower than the season before.

It's more than 40 years since the club enjoyed a longer run in the top flight - and there seems very little prospect of it ending this season.

  11. 'Pochettino will not want to go now'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Brighton 3-0 Tottenham

    BBC World Service

Former Tottenham midfielder and Brighton manager Gus Poyet speaking on BBC World Service's Sportsworld: "Mauricio Pochettino is an excellent manager and a fighter.

"He will not want to go now. He will want to get this team in a happier place. Yes bad times for sure. But things can change quickly. The international break is at the right time.“

  12. 'It's a dream come true'published at 14:35 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    Brighton 3-0 Tottenham

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton's two-goal hero Aaron Connolly speaking to BT Sport: "I can’t quite believe it, it's a dream come.

"I've been watching the Premier League since I was four or five, so to be playing in it now and then to score and to win 3-0, it really is a dream come true.

"I didn't really know how to celebrate - I just ran away to the other end! I can't really put in into words at the moment how much it means."

Norwich v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

Norwich boss Daniel Farke has more players in the treatment room than the changing room at the moment - including two injured goalkeepers.

So that means third-choice Michael McGovern, the 35-year-old Northern Ireland international who spent all his career in Scotland before moving to Carrow Road three years ago, makes his first Premier League start as expected.

Attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell was a slight doubt but is fit to play, while left-back Jamal Lewis and centre-back Ben Godfrey were both passed fit yesterday.

The news from the Villa side is... there is no 'news'. The same starting XI and bench for boss Dean Smith as the squad which drew against Burnley last weekend.

Left-back Matt Targett has shaken off the injury which forced him off last week, while striker Jonathan Kodjia and centre-back James Chester are not yet fit enough to make the squad.

Both managers resisting the urge to make wholesale changes here today at Turf Moor, just one apiece.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson comes in for Burnley, replacing Jack Cork who has a minor fracture in his shoulder blade.

The midfielder arrived at the ground about an hour after the rest of the squad and his problem didn't hinder him from signing autographs for the fans waiting outside the ground.

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Hendrick, Westwood, Gudmundsson, McNeil, Wood, Barnes.

    Everton

Under pressure Everton boss Marco Silva brings in summer signing Alex Iwobi in place of Theo Walcott, who suffered concussion in the loss against Manchester City and misses out altogether.

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne, Schneiderlin, Delph, Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin
