What a way to turn defence into attack. Connolly has nothing else in his mind but to take on Toby Alderweireld. Everything about that defensively was horrific. It was a great goal but Alderweireld should never have turned his back. He did everything wrong.

Marco Silva looked pretty relaxed arriving at Turf Moor, signing autographs after getting off the team bus. A run of three Premier League defeats in a row means it’s a worrying time for him going into an international break but this place will bring back good memories. Everton won 5-1 here last season. Burnley defender Ben Mee says that’s a result they “want to put right".

All this Poch out stuff is ridiculous, talk about being a victim of your own success. Getting to the CL final last year was frankly miraculous after not signing a single player. The problem is the consistent failure of Levy to strengthen the squad.
