  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2019

    Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal

Here's one of those laws I never really know - Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster sticks a leg up to block Emiliano Martinez's drop-kick and he's booked.

Am I alone in enjoying the pace of the game that not having VAR brings back?

All these people criticising Xhaka, Mustafi etc are not real Arsenal fans. Support your team or go elsewhere. You're not welcome.

It all came from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain overplaying in midfield, it was a simple pass.

The moment of brilliance comes from Mesut Ozil, he picked the right pass. The shot was saved brilliantly by Kelleher. Torreira was possibly offside from what we're seeing.

  7. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 1-1 Arsenalpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2019

    Lucas Torreira (19 mins)

Arsenal are level and that man Mesut Ozil plays a big part in it. After Gabriel Martinelli gets into the area down the left and puts in a cross, Ozil picks out Bukayo Saka in space. His shot is saved but there's Lucas Torreira free to put it home.

There looked like there could be an offside as the shot came in but there's no VAR...

Liverpool's Plan Bs playing just like the first team really, goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher has impressed with his distribution and positioning.

    Here come Arsenal though...

I genuinely think Mustafi is just incredibly unlucky, on his day he's one of the best centre backs in the league!

    Alex Wheeler, Birmingham

The own goal aside, Mustafi has probably been our most consistent defender this season so let's not criticise too much

  10. 'A nice feeling to win it'published at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2019

Chelsea v Man Utd (20:05 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard to Sky Sports: "It's another competition, another opportunity to give people minutes. They deserve it from how they've done in training. I've tried to mix it about. Let's see what we can do."

On the 4-0 opening-day defeat by United...

"We're the same players. We played well in parts in that game. It was a good lesson on how clinical United are. We have to be aware of their threat so we'll remember that."

    Is the EFL Cup important?

"It's important. As a player I always felt it was important. It's a nice feeling to win it."

Often when you get a youngster playing their first game for the first team they often take a lot of touches and take simple passes but Harvey Elliott wasn't like against MK Dons in the last round, he was laying it off and taking players on. He was impressive.

Adam Lallana floats a lovely ball over the top of that panicked Arsenal defence, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be in if his first touch is perfect but it's not and he isn't.

    Good tempo to this start.

It was the sort of finish for the own goal that you could not repeat if you had 1,000 attempts at it. Shkodran Mustafi then almost sells his goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez short with a backpass.

It's only a few years since I saw Mustafi score a goal for Germany at the Euros. Seems a lifetime ago. Several.

Liverpool zipping the ball about nicely at the moment. A reminder that we are about to get under way at a sold-out Villa Park too.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made that run in behind Kolasinac three times already, it's a good ball into the middle but you've got to feel for Mustafi.

It was a brilliant run from Oxlade-Chamberlain, that's what he brings to this Liverpool midfielder - a willingness to get in-behind.

    Shkodran Mustafi (OG 6 mins)

I wondered if Arsenal fans would be happy to see Shkodran Mustafi back in the side...

Good ball down the line by Neco Williams, the Ox is free to put in a low cross and Mustafi, sliding in to clear in front of Rhian Brewster, kicks into his own knee and puts it in the back of the net.
