An escape for Manchester United as their defence is opened up far too easily by Callum Wilson's ball over the top for Joshua King, who then finds Ryan Fraser. The Bournemouth man has a clear sight of goal but fires straight at David de Gea.

Crucial intervention by Adam Smith as Dan James breaks following a Bournemouth corner. He tries to pick out Marcus Rashford on the other side of the pitch but Smith intercepts and then clears.

No confusion over where Manchester United are focusing their attacks. Almost everything is going through Dan James although Bournemouth can't switch off on the other side too with Marcus Rashford equally dangerous.

Dan James puffs out his cheeks, he knows this one was close!

Andreas Pereira's free-kick doesn't beat the first man but the ball is only cleared to James on the edge of the area and he strikes a thunderous effort just wide of the post.

Better from Fred!

He runs onto Marcus Rashford's cut back and takes aim for the top corner but his shot is deflected behind for a corner.

Are Manchester United going to rue those early missed chances?

Bournemouth are coming into this game more and good persistence by Harry Wilson sees him get into a shooting position inside the box but his effort is well blocked by Scott McTominay.

The Cherries then open up the Manchester United defence as Adam Smith sends Ryan Fraser away down the right but his low cross is scrambled away by David de Gea.

First opportunity for Bournemouth as Callum Wilson has the ball on the left. He picks out Jefferson Lerma on the edge of the box and he tees himself up for a volley with his first touch but Fred closes down well to block the shot.

Nice link up play between Dan James and Andreas Pereira in these early stages but despite all their possession they are yet to force Aaron Ramsdale into a meaningful save.

Field: United have to take these chances been the story of the season. Will end up going down 1-0 and then media and pundits alike ignore how well we've started. Andreas needs to pick his head up more.

Loser92: Fred has shown some nice touches so far...

Bournemouth cannot handle Dan James at the moment with every Manchester United attack coming through him. This time he puts in a good cross from the right to the far post where a team-mate is unmarked.

Unfortunately, that team-mate is Fred, who has one goal for Manchester United and he doesn't come even close to doubling that tally as he connects horribly and the ball dribbles well wide.

All Manchester United in these opening stages as Dan James wins battle number two with Diego Rico and cuts the ball back to Andreas Pereira again but this time the Brazilian smashes a powerful effort over the bar.

Anthony Martial is very busy in these early stages and he almost gets in behind the Bournemouth defence but Nathan Ake marshals him well to snuff out the chance.

Martial then gets a low shot on target from distance, but it was comfortably scooped up by Aaron Ramsdale.

Diego Rico looks to be in for a torrid afternoon. He has the pace of Dan James to deal with and the Manchester United forward wins the first battle between the pair this afternoon as he races away following Anthony Martial's smart pass.

James gets to the edge of the box and squares for Andreas Pereira, who misses his shot in the middle of the area.

A let off for Bournemouth.

A slightly scrappy but energetic start to this game with Bournemouth not giving Manchester United any time to settle on the ball.
