Aguero races towards goal but Virgil van Dijk does an excellent job of shutting down the angle and the Manchester City forward sends a low effort wide of the far post.

Mo Salah is on the floor and writhing in pain after getting caught by Fernandinho. It was an excellent tackle by the Manchester City midfielder but it has left Salah in some discomfort.

Kyle Walker has a go from distance but slices his shot well wide. Ironic cheers from the home fans but Pep Guardiola applauds the attempt.

Kevin de Bruyne this time sends the corner into the middle of the goal but Alisson confidently claws the ball out of the air.

Once again Liverpool attack quickly as Roberto Firmino sends Kyle Walker sliding through with a clever dummy but then undoes that bit of good play by lashing well over.

Raheem Sterling takes on Trent Alexander-Arnold on the left, gets into the box and wins Manchester City a corner when his cross deflects off the Liverpool full-back.

Smart flick by Mo Salah to give Jordan Henderson space for a cross. He tries to find Roberto Firmino but John Stones heads behind for a corner.

Andy Robertson's delivery is then flicked across goal by Dejan Lovren.

The tempo has settled down a bit after a frenetic start. Liverpool fans are trying to do their bit by booing every Manchester City player when they are in possession. The visitors are trying to work an opening but no dice at the moment.

Clever play by Mo Salah as a quick turn catches out both Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan.

Salah then finds Roberto Firmino in the box but he is quickly closed down by three opposition players and Manchester City clear.
