Dusk is just settling in over Anfield as the two teams head out onto the pitch.

Given what's at stake, I can't see beyond a nervy, tight affair but here's hoping I'm wrong and we get end-to-end football and lots of goals.

    Manchester United

Manchester United manaer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to Match of the Day: 'We should have scored many more goals.

'It was an excellent performance from the lads, when you see them going forward it is a joy to watch.

'Anthony Martial did not get a goal but he was outstanding. Brandon Williams was excellent too, he has had some good games already and he seems he wants to be out there and enjoy himself.

'The table does not really matter at the moment: we need to keep improving and keep winning games and see where it takes us.

A reminder of how it looks at the top of the Premier League. A win for Liverpool would move them nine points clear of Manchester City but a win for the visitors would reduce the deficit to just three points.

    Big game.

    Man Utd 3-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Graham Potter speaking on Match of the day: 'They deserved to win the game, if you make any mistake they can turn defence into attack so quickly.

'The players gave their best, but sometimes you have to accept you are playing against a better team. We had a decent period in the league and now we need to get ready for another tough match.

'They key moment for us was when we went 2-1 down despite not being much in the game, if we could have kept that score for longer it could have made a difference but United respondend scoring the third goal so early in transition'

  8. 'We could have had seven or eight goals'published at 16:18 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2019

    Manchester United

Manchester United winger Daniel James: 'The high press paid off, that’s what we have been about all season, playing with energy right from the start.

'We were a little bit edgy when they scored and it was good to score again on the break. But we could have scored also seven or eight goals.

On Rashford missing an easy tap-in: 'Marcus normally scores a lot of those goals, thankfully when he missed we were already 3-1 up.

  9. 'Claudio Bravo will be nervy'published at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2019

Liverpool v Man City (16:30 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
Former Aston Villa striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

When Pep signed Claudio Bravo he had high hopes but he cost Manchester City a few times and if you’re Liverpool you would want to exploit that and put him under pressure.

You can’t tell me Bravo is going into this game being full of confidence, he’ll be nervy.

Ederson is an enormous loss for Manchester City.

  10. Big day for Bravopublished at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2019

As expected, Claudio Bravo starts his first Premier League game for Manchester City in 18 months in place of the injured Ederson - there will be lots of focus on the 36-year-old Chilean. whose record in this country is chequered to say the least.

Rodrigo returns from a hamstring injury while Angelino gets the nod at left-back.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has resisted the temptation to start in-form Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has made a habit of scoring against Manchester City at Anfield, but Fabinho returns for Adam Lallana.

City and Liverpool have ramped up their consistency to such a level that there's little point goading the rival manager.

Pep Guardiola's comments about Sadio Mane and diving last weekend were possibly the closest the Klopp/Guardiola rivalry has come to this, and it's probably not a coincidence that it happened on a day when Liverpool looked like they might finally be about to lose.

So is this game shaping up to be highest-quality Premier League game ever?

A blemish on an otherwise great day for Manchester United as Scott McTominay limps off injured. He's clearly in a lot of pain and that does not look good for McTominay.

The hosts have already made all three substitutions so will play out the final few seconds with 10 men.

Brandon Williams will remember the standing ovation he has just received from Old Trafford as he was replaced by Marcos Rojo.

It has been a good couple of days for Manchester United and their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Six goals in two games is a throw back to Solskjaer's arrival at the club as temporary manager.
