Terrific atmosphere. Greasy chip butties. Let's do this!

  5. 'Eddie Howe is of interest to Everton'published at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Everton fans will ask why can't we go for Jose Mourinho or Mauricio Pochettino but the honest answer is they just wouldn't be interested.

I know Eddie Howe is of interest to the Everton board but getting him mid-season might be difficult. I don't know how David Moyes going back would work, because he was in control of everything when he was there last time. That wouldn't be the case now with Marcel Brands.

They've also spent some ££ on the PA system. Absolutely deafening at Bramall Lane as Billy Sharp bounces up and down in the tunnel like a cocker spaniel puppy.

When he was banging them in for Scunthorpe the Premier League must have felt a long way away. (No offence. Well, a bit).

"He deserves all the praise in the world for the job he's done." That is Steve Bruce's opinion of Chris Wilder, , externalwho he managed back in the late 1990s at Sheffield United.

There are few who would disagree. Unbeaten in seven, winning plaudits left, right and centre for their performances, and - somewhat worryingly for Newcastle - currently scoring goals for fun at Bramall Lane.

Somewhat belatedly, Bruce is receiving some praise of his own for the work he is doing at his hometown club.

He says he'll always be grateful to the Blades for giving him his "eye-opening" break in management. He now faces the challenge of building some consistency for his Newcastle side by disrupting Sheffield United's superb start.

The Blades have spent a few quid on the floodlights over the summer - we're being treated to quite the lights/pyro show at Bramall Lane now.

Freddie Ljungberg makes three changes to the Arsenal side held to a 2-2 draw by Norwich on Sunday.

Right-back Hector Bellerin returns after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury while Sokratis is also back in defence. There is a recall for Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Making way are Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers and French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Bellerin, Papastathopoulos, Luiz, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Torreira, Aubameyang, Willock, Ozil, Lacazette.

Substitutes: Tierney, Pepe, Chambers, Nelson, Martinez, Guendouzi, Martinelli.

Brighton gave leaders Liverpool a late scare at Anfield on Saturday yet Graham Potter has still decided to make changes.

There is a recall for Neal Maupay, who has four Premier League goals this season, and midfielder Steven Alzate.

Brazilian defender Bernardo, out for three months with a knee injury, is on the bench.

Brighton & Hove Albion XI: Ryan, Webster, Dunk, Stephens, Alzate, Propper, Mooy, Burn, Gross, Maupay, Connolly.

Substitutes: Duffy, Bissouma, Trossard, Murray, Montoya, Button, Bernardo.

After the Norwich defeat, Everton had nowhere to go immediately if they sacked Marco Silva. Last night's game had all the hallmarks of a manger sacking though. He's probably clung on longer than expected because there were no alternatives for Everton to turn to.

  11. 'A step back is good for Everton'published at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2019

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

People are saying that David Moyes would be three or four steps back. I would argue a step back is good for Everton at the moment. The steps forward they've made in the last three or four years haven't got Everton anywhere.

David Moyes is definitely in the frame, but we'll wait to hear news that he's the interim manager. Bill Kenwright, the Everton chairman, has always hankered for the skills that David Moyes brought to the club.

But, the fans have seen how Moyes has done since he left Goodison Park, they see him as yesterday's man and want someone more progressive.

    Mark Lawrenson
    Ex-Liverpool defender

Sheffield United keep on picking up points and I am very aware I have not tipped them enough to win this season.

I keep thinking they will run out of steam but that has not happened, and they have already shown that they are far better than I thought they were.

    Prediction: 2-1

This is what Billy Sharp has been waiting for. It's just a brilliant club, going very, very well. Hopefully he can get an opportunity tonight and score.

He's done so well for the club and he's got a great rapport with Chris Wilder.
