  1. Pep eyeing up number 100published at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2019

Wolves v Man City (19:45 GMT)

Victory would see Man City boss Pep Guardiola reach 100 Premier League wins, and break the record for fewest games needed to reach the landmark.

He has won 99 of 132 matches, and is set to overhaul Jose Mourinho, who registered his 100th win in his 142nd game.

  2. 'City looking like old selves'published at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2019

Wolves v Man City (19:45 GMT)

Pep Guardiola's side have looked a lot more like their old selves with their attacking displays against Arsenal and Leicester in the past couple of weeks, scoring three times in both games.

Of course there is still a question mark over City defensively, but they will take the game to Wolves and I think they will win it.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said at Monday's press conference ahead of this game that Sergio Aguero was 'irreplaceable' and doing so when the striker's contract ends in 2021 would be one of his hardest tasks as manager.

Of course, Guardiola may not have to actually do it.

His contract expires at exactly the same time.

Former Norwich, Millwall and Wales striker Steve Morison on whether players pay attention to the table: "Of course you do. You look at it and talk about it in the dressing room.

"If you're at the bottom you talk about 'we need to win four of next 10 to stay up' for example.

"Or if you're at the top it is a different conversation, you're looking at where you're going next and saying 'this is a tough game' or 'we will win that game'."

  12. Meltdown of the yearpublished at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2019

Wolves v Man City (19:45 GMT)

Here at BBC Sport HQ, we put together an 'alternative end-of-year awards' piece, looking back on the highs, lows, inspirations and the funny moments of 2019.

Pep Guardiola picked up the Meltdown of the Year award and VAR was the cause of it.

The technology has led to some frustrating moments for those on the touchline and in the stands as they've celebrated goals, only to see them ruled out after a review.

Poor Pep has had more than his share of VAR misfortune.

It played a significant part in Manchester City's elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Tottenham in April and again went against his side in their crucial Premier League tussle with title rivals Liverpool in November.

When VAR did not award a penalty after the ball struck Trent Alexander-Arnold on the arm, it proved too much for Guardiola as he suffered an astonishing meltdown, , externalraging at the fourth official. "TWICEEEEEEE!"

The guy on the public address has just said it is Wolves' 32nd game of the season - and the Premier League is only just reaching its halfway point.

And Nuno Espirito Santo's men have a trip to Liverpool to come on Sunday afternoon.

Can Wolves make it two wins against the defending champions this season? They last completed the league double over City in 1999-2000, back in the second tier but it's been even longer in the top flight.

I didn't expect to see Aguero start, I think Jesus would have started if he was well because he has been playing well since he came in. But he is ill and there is a lot of football coming up.

But he must be really ill because when you've got a cold or a cough, as a footballer, you always want to be on the pitch. You still want to play.

He must have had permission from the doctor to say not to play. I'm expecting Aguero to score goals today.

  16. 'I wrote a letter to say thank you'published at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2019

Wolves v Man City (19:45 GMT)

Wolves are not the only ones suffering from a pretty heavy fixtures pile-up.

Manchester City spoke to the Premier League about their Christmas fixture programme.

They have just 46 hours and 15 minutes between tonight's match and the game against Sheffield United at home on 29 December.

Sheffield United will have had 75 hours between the Boxing Day game against Watford and the City match.

"I wrote a letter to the Premier League to say thank you," said Pep Guardiola.

Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo: "We are the team that has less hours [of recovery] in this period - 45 hours between two games and 112 hours between the three games until New Year's Day.

"It's going to be very tough, I think all of the managers are concerned and rightly so. I'm particularly concerned because I've been saying this; the schedule doesn't make sense, it's absurd. For all the teams.

"We have to survive. Let's see what happens. "

The fixtures schedule is bonkers isn't it?

Wolves have been hit the worst by the festive schedule. They have just 45 hours of recovery after this game before playing league leaders Liverpool on Sunday.

They will play four games in eight days, ending next Saturday at Molineux with an FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester United.
