Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho speaking to Amazon: "I am very happy with second half. We changed bits, I am not saying players were wrong but we changed bits and that makes a difference. The first half was not a disaster, we were playing a good game. It’s hard after a defeat to have confidence and we started poorly, it affects the confidence. In the second half the players put all the negative aside and were very strong in their performance."

On Brighton: "They are a v good football team. They have a few giants who are very strong. They are strong in the air. They want to play good football. It makes it very difficult. They have monsters in the air and if affected the self esteem of our team.

On Dele Alli: "Another goal and another incredible performance and effort. The work rate was absolutely incredible from Dele. The little details are more important than what people look at. His attitude and fighting spirit was so good."

Mikel Arteta’s immediate task is to try and bring some order to his new Arsenal side. It’s just one win in 13 games in all competitions for the Gunners.

Arteta is the youngest manager they’ve had since Terry Neill was appointed in 1976 - the Spaniard wasn't even born then.

This is certainly going to be a swift learning curve in the months ahead.

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli speaking to Amazon: "I think we had a slow start, but as the game went along confidence grew. We knew getting a goal was important and then it was not long until we got the second. We grew from that first goal and we knew we had to get the three points today.

"For me I have to focus on each game, I have to keep working hard, I have to keep improving. I have to keep heading forwards and not go backwards."

On Harry Kane: "When you have a striker like Harry, you know all you have to do is give him the chances and he will put them away. He works so so hard, probably harder than he needs to."

Carlo Ancelotti takes over just as Everton are enjoying their longest unbeaten run of the season; that said he now becomes the fifth manager in six years to try to rectify the club's inconsistencies.

In the long term they will have top-four aspirations at a new £500m stadium but Ancelotti's much more immediate aim will be to gather the 21 further points necessary to stave off any outside relegation concerns.

It all begins with the unique threat which Burnley possess. The prospect of outsmarting a three-time Champions League winner is exactly the kind of challenge which Sean Dyche will relish.

    Kevin Nolan
Former West Ham captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Carlo Ancelotti has had a bit of time with the players now, so I suspect he'll be looking for a bit of discipline, tenacity and people wanting to play for the shirt. He'll also want to see if the message he's put across this week has sunk in with his players.

For Ancelotti, if he can see that a player has taken on board everything that he's said, then that is so important and he'll automatically think: 'this is the player for me and one I can work with.'

Bad news for Everton fans wanting some Carlo Ancelotti merchandise for the Italian’s first game in charge of the Toffees.

He was only confirmed as boss a week ago and the Christmas break has meant the souvenir stands have not had enough time to get the scarves made.

You can get a half-and-half scarf but whoever wants one of them? But head to the club shop and you can at least get Ancelotti’s name on the back of your shirt if you so wish.
