Sean Longstaff wants to get on the scoresheet with his brother against Manchester United, but the elder sibling blazes over.

Gary Murray: I am disappointed Lingard has come on for Rashford. I would much rather James or Mata instead. Even more disappointed that Martial has been substituted.

Easily worst performance of the season by the Toon.

    John

    This would have been brilliant.

Andreas Pereira plays a beautiful backheel to Juan Mata and the Spaniard finds Mason Greenwood in the box.

But the teenager's touch lets him down and the ball rolls away for a goal kick.

David: Steve Bruce should make a treble substitution. I don’t care who comes on; he can choose any three from 11 to come off.

As a Newcastle fan this is disappointing but we've not defended this poorly in ages. Gifting goals to an average Man Utd here.

    Ken, Newcastle

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 60 mins

    Man Utd 4-1 Newcastle

Manchester United have not had a player score a Premier League hat-trick since 22 April 2013 (2013!!!) when Robin van Persie netted a triple against Aston Villa.

Can Anthony Martial finally put that stat to bed?

As I write that, he almost does but his low strike cannons back off the foot of the post.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 58 mins

Christian Atsu enters in place of Dwight Gayle.

Nothing wrong with Paul Pogba's foot now.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has entered the fray - on the day he spearheaded a new anti-racism campaign.

Pogba wore a customised black and white band bearing the insignia 'No To Racism. We Are All One' before the game.

The band was worn by all United's players during the warm-up.

The France midfielder intends to maintain the initiative on social and digital media.

  16. goal

GOAL - Man Utd 4-1 Newcastlepublished at 18:38 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2019

    Anthony Martial (51 mins)

    A second for the Frenchman.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is smiling now, Steve Bruce is not.

Sean Longstaff plays a horrible blind backpass towards goalkeeper Martin Dubravka but it gets nowhere near the goalkeeper and Anthony Martial cuts it out.

Martial runs forward and dinks a gorgeous finish over Dubravka and the home fans sing "Ole, Ole Ole Ole."

Not heard that for a while at Old Trafford.
