Trent Alexander-Arnold plays a sublime, curling ball forward which Sadio Mane lets bounce through his legs and into the path of Mohamed Salah.

He hits it first time and Dean Henderson does well to push it out for a corner. Jordan Henderson's strike is then deflected wide and Liverpool have another set-piece.

Ricology: When I see the Liverpool back four, I remember the days when I used to worry about every set piece or corner against the likes of Stoke and West Brom.

Enda Stevens gives the ball away but recovers well to stop Roberto Firmino's pass through to Mohamed Salah, who would have been in.

Trent Alexander-Arnold then swings a lovely ball into the box, which James Milner is inches away from reaching ahead of Dean Henderson.

Dean Henderson's clearance is straight at Jordan Henderson, who can't find Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool skipper then wins the ball back straight away and curls one in, looking for Roberto Firmino at the back post. It's headed away.

Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold momemtarily switch positions and Sheffield United almost take advantage.

Lys Mousset makes a run through the middle but Robertson then comes across to cover and the cross is safely into Alisson's hands.

Sheffield United's corner breaks down and Liverpool immediately counter with pace, led by Jordan Henderson.

He slips it right for Sadio Mane but the pass is a little heavy. Mane is forced wide and by the time he turns to lift a ball in, the visitors have raced back into position. Solid defending.

Keith Chapman: Sheffield United may be more encouraged to attack now!

Virgil van Dijk pops up on the left in the opposition half. Then he keeps going! He plays a one-two with Sadio Mane and chases the return in the box but Chris Basham is there to stop him.

Moments later, Georginio Wijnaldum fires an effort way over the bar. It's too easy at the moment.

The Sheffield United fans initially cheered as John Lundstram put the ball in the net, then stood and took the jeers of derision from the home supporters when it was ruled out. They then launched into a hopeful chant of 'VAR, VAR' before then making their feelings clear about the technology when a review wasn't forthcoming. Talk about going through the emotions.

Sadio Mane flicks it on to Georginio Wijnaldum without even looking. Joe Gomez then tries a long diagonal ball with Roberto Firmino its target.

It's cut out but Liverpool retain possession. Sheffield United are struggling to get into the game.

Qaaltagh: Looking at the Liverpool bench I'm inclined to think Harvey Elliot will be thrown on at some point this evening. Mane is due a rest and I bet the teenager would relish the chance at going up against one of the best defences in the country.

GosBoss: No point watching Liverpool they just keep on winning..so boring..lose for once make the season more excitable.

John Lundstram is offside and he probably knows it but he plays on anyway and puts the ball in the back of the net.

The flag goes up immediately. He's a good few yards off.

John Egan lost Mohamed Salah in the box, again the movement is far too quick for Sheffield United but incredible reflexes by Dean Henderson. To be able to pick it out the top corner like that, you can see why he's so highly rated.

Liverpool look sharp.

Roberto Firmino can't quite get through and it comes out to James Milner, in space on the right.

He curls a ball in towards the backpost but Andy Robertson can't get there.

Jordan Henderson wins the ball in midfield and sets Mohamed Salah on his way down the right. The Egyptian backheels it to Georginio Wijnaldum and it's played back to Henderson.

He whips one straight into the box, where Salah has carried on his run. Salah catches it sweetly on the volley and Dean Henderson somehow (somehow!) claws it over the bar.

Brilliant reactionary save!

Georginio Wijnaldum has time to turn and pick out a pass. He goes for a low, driven ball through to Mohamed Salah but Dean Henderson reads it well. He comes out of his box to clear.

Alex C: It shows how impressive Liverpool have been that if they win their games in hand the gap to United is 30 points which is just 1 less than United's total tally. Wouldn't bet against it! Come on Liverpool.

It was all about Mohamed Salah getting the wrong side of Jack O'Connell, making that run in behind. O'Connell got caught ball watching and what often happens is you can't make another mistake after the first initial one. Sheffield United switched off at the back and Liverpool punished them.
